Harry Potter’s Epic Anime Transformation: A Magical Crossover with Detective Conan!

The beloved character Harry Potter has undergone an official anime and manga transformation in preparation for a unique collaboration taking place in Japan. Despite no immediate plans for new entries in the Harry Potter franchise from the 2010s, its enduring popularity guarantees that it will eventually return with fresh adaptations based on the original novels from scratch. In the meantime, Harry Potter is set to make a splash abroad through an exciting crossover with one of the longest-running manga series, Gosho Aoyama’s Detective Conan.

In a surprising collaboration, Harry Potter and Detective Conan have unveiled a unique partnership abroad, though specific details about this joint venture remain under wraps. However, instead of further details, an initial outcome from this collaboration has been disclosed. As Detective Conan gears up for an expanded alliance with Harry Potter, the creator, Gosho Aoyama, has published a special drawing featuring Harry Potter seamlessly integrated into the broader Detective Conan manga universe. This illustration was released alongside the latest issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. Take a look at the result below.

Today, the Shonen Sunday #9 issue goes on sale featuring an illustration by Professor Genshō Tanaka of myself and Harry Potter!

This amazing illustration will be displayed at Mahoutsukai Dokoro Landmark Plaza until the end of February!

The collaboration campaign is still ongoing until February 2nd, so everyone is encouraged to participate! #HarryPotterXConanSwagFanForever

Why Are Harry Potter and Detective Conan Teaming Up?

The Harry Potter franchise may not hold the same financial promise as it once did following recent disclosures by its creator, yet it continues to thrive globally. The collaboration with Detective Conan might catch Western fans off guard (since it was previously known as Case Closed in English adaptations), but Detective Conan is a hugely successful franchise in Japan, debuting in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1994 and achieving significant success over the last few decades.

Despite airing on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block in the U.S., Detective Conan didn’t gain significant popularity among fans compared to its status in Japan. The series’ longevity is less apparent for international viewers, but it maintains a strong following and continues to dominate the box office with each new film release in Japan, making it a major player in the anime industry there.

What’s Next for Detective Conan?

The popular detective series “Detective Conan” is preparing for the launch of its 28th feature film, and it’s expected to continue its streak of box office success. Each movie has consistently dominated the charts as soon as it hits theaters, and this trend seems likely to continue with the upcoming release. Slated to open in cinemas throughout Japan on April 18th, “Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback” is building anticipation for some of its most thrilling scenes yet when it finally premieres.

At this point in time, it’s unclear when or if this new movie will be shown internationally. As for Japanese fans, they can look forward to “Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback”, which is hinted at as follows: “The son of a renowned mystery author, Shinichi Kudo, has made a name for himself by helping the local police solve cases while still in school. He’s known for his quick wit and logical reasoning skills.
