The music community is mourning a tragic loss.

Ryan Whyte Maloney, who appeared on The Voice in its sixth season back in 2014, tragically passed away at the age of 44, as confirmed by the Clark County Coroner to People magazine on January 28th.

The coroner said that Maloney died by suicide, per the outlet.

Less than 24 hours before his passing, the singer shared a video of him hanging out at a bar.

In a video he shared on his Instagram Story on January 27th, Maloney (dressed in black shirt, leather jacket, and necklace with a silver pendant) showcased a rock-on gesture and spun around to give a full, dimly lit view of the place.

In the video, Maloney stated, “Tonight, nine distinguished gentlemen are invited for a private gathering, and we’re all set to have a great time.

Previously this month, the artist famously known as “Every Car You Chase” looked back at his experience on the reality show “The Voice.” He had been a finalist on Blake Shelton’s team during season six but was eliminated. For him, returning for the 2014 finale turned out to be a particularly memorable and uplifting moment amidst a challenging period in his life.

Feeling down at home after The Voice, I penned on Instagram last January 17th, accompanied by a video of me and my buddies crooning a rendition of Morgan Wallen’s ‘Summertime’. I was attempting to piece together my life again, getting accustomed to the laughter-inducing influx of 60,000 Facebook messages from folks who claimed they knew me, and then came the call – an invitation from The Voice asking me back for the finale! This moment, right here, is hands down the best time in my life yet!

Beyond my stint on “The Voice,” I’ve also carved out a reputation as the lead vocalist of the progressive rock band, Indulge. In 2005, we recorded the album “Tomorrow’s Another Day” together, and since then, I’ve been touring with them for a decade.

Besides gaining fame as a reality TV personality, this individual has ventured into the music world too. Since making his debut in the entertainment industry, he’s dropped multiple singles such as “Hillbilly” (2024) and “Michigan Moonlight”, and even published an album titled “Where I’ve Been“.

For Maloney, every career step he took prior to The Voice led him to his successful audition.

He posted on Instagram on January 16th: “To the spectators, I was merely one of many performances, but to me, that instance represented a fight for my future, a symbol of my commitment to my art. Perseverance matters – don’t waver, don’t yield!
