Wallace & Gromit: We Got Nominated!

Last Christmas, the nation fell in love with Wallace & Gromit: The Fowl Vengeance, a heartwarming escapade that continued the adventures of our beloved cheese enthusiasts.

In this 70-minute feature, the notorious antagonist Feathers McGraw made his comeback, bent on vengeance. This quest culminated in an ominous robotic character named Gromit teetering on a precipice, while classic Wensleydale cheese was involved as well.

The thrill doesn’t end there – the movie has attracted a whopping 21.6 million viewers within 28 days, and it’s even been recognized with an Oscar nomination!

As a movie enthusiast, I was thrilled when the Academy unveiled their nominations and revealed that “Vengeance Most Fowl” made it on the list for Animated Feature Film!

On more than one occasion, their exhilarating escapades have been recognized with a nomination. Previously, they had taken home four Academy Awards.

At the TopMob Covers Party 2025, Nick Park, the creator, confessed he took pleasure in a strong cup of tea upon receiving the news. Meanwhile, Merlin Crossingham, the creative director, shared that they popped open some champagne, and this was after he almost spilled his tea. However, they did celebrate with champagne, lifting their glasses to honor the entire crew who contributed to creating this fantastic film.

Regarding his nomination, Nick Park expressed that it was both unexpected and a significant honor.

I find myself continually amazed, it’s not something one grows accustomed to. I never anticipated this recognition, and even now, it feels surreal to be included among such esteemed company. The creation of our film was a labor of love, and the unexpected success still takes my breath away.

Every artist appreciates some form of recognition for their work, and it’s truly a testament to the incredible skillset of our animation team, along with all the other gifted individuals – from the director of photography to the musicians – who have contributed to this film in countless ways.

“So many people have worked so hard.”
