Godzilla x Kong 3 Looking to Bring Back Fan-Favorite Character

In the upcoming third installment of the Godzilla and Kong movie series, newcomer Kaitlyn Dever has joined the cast, leaving fans curious about potential returns from previous MonsterVerse characters. Excitingly for kaiju enthusiasts, a well-known actor from “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will reprise their role in the Hollow Earth again. Although plot details and the official title of this third entry are still under wraps, it’s evident that the MonsterVerse aims to provide Godzilla and Kong with more formidable human allies once more.

Dan Stevens is in talks to reprise his role as Trapper, which he first appeared in the movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. For those who didn’t see the second installment of this crossover series or just need a reminder, Trapper was portrayed as a “kaiju vet.” He helped Kong with a bad tooth and became crucial when Godzilla and Kong fought their evil counterparts, Skar King and Shimo. Although humans were not spotlighted much in The New Empire compared to previous entries, Trapper became a favorite among kaiju fans in the sequel.

Godzilla x Kong 3: What We Know

Besides Dan Stevens’ return, it’s also worth noting that Kaitlyn Dever has been cast in the third installment of this trilogy. She is set to portray Abby, a character known for her contentious nature in “The Last Of Us,” during the upcoming second season. While Stevens may be reprising his role, Adam Wingard won’t be returning as director. Instead, Grant Suptore, who directed ‘I Am Mother,’ will helm the third movie of the MonsterVerse crossover.

The upcoming movie will be penned by Dave Callaham, recognized by fans for his work on films such as “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” This crossover film is set to hit theaters on March 26th, 2027, so kaiju enthusiasts will have to wait approximately two years for this new installment. Fortunately, there’s more to look forward to in the realm of kaiju stories, particularly those centered around the King of the Monsters, in the coming times.

Godzilla’s Future is Bright

In terms of live-action productions, Apple TV+ is actively developing the second season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” as well as an undisclosed spin-off series delving deeper into the kaiju-centric setting. As for comic books, the year 2025 promises a significant showdown for the King of Monsters, as Marvel Comics will pit Godzilla against renowned teams such as the Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. It goes without saying that this is an incredibly exciting time for fans immersed in the kaiju universe.
