`Politico Loses $8M in USAID Funding Amid Gamergate Scandal`

It has been discovered that Politico, a news organization often criticized for its left-wing bias against the Gamergate community, has been receiving millions of dollars in taxpayer money. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared that this funding will cease following disclosures that Politico obtained over $8 million through USAID and other government contracts.

User Anarseldain brought attention to a significant revelation: Politico frequently portrays Gamergate as a misinformation and harassment campaign, emphasizing the importance of diversity in gaming. A search on Politico reveals 22 articles about Gamergate.

The disclosure brings up significant doubts as to whether public funds were employed to push a political viewpoint in the realm of video game journalism.

It has been questioned whether our tax money was employed in endorsing ‘wokeness’ within video games, and indeed, it has been confirmed that this is the case.

Politico receives millions of dollars annually from USAID, and often publishes articles advocating for diversity while portraying Gamergate as a misinformation and harassment movement.

There’s been speculation about whether our tax money is being used to push ‘wokeness’ in video games, and it turns out, it is. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) reportedly paid millions annually to Politico, who in turn wrote articles advocating for diversity and labeling Gamergate as a ‘disinformation’ and ‘harassment’ campaign.

At the White House press conference on Wednesday, Leavitt announced that Politico’s public financing will be cut off right away.

Press Secretary Leavitt calls out Politico to their face.

I’ve learned that Media Outlets, such as Politico, have received funding from USAID. Since I see them represented here in this room, I feel it necessary to mention that the $8M you’ve been receiving comes to an end today. Regrettably, the DOGE Team is stopping those payments immediately.

Leavitt stated, “I’ve learned about financial aid from USAID that goes to media organizations, such as Politico, which I’m familiar with since they are present here. As of now, the $8M you receive will no longer be distributed. The DOGE Team has decided to halt these payments immediately.

The team known as DOGE, or Department of Government Efficiency, is headed by Elon Musk and is responsible for streamlining unnecessary expenses in government contracts.

President Donald Trump commented on this controversy on his Truth Social platform.

It appears that around billions of dollars have been allegedly misappropriated at USAID and other institutions, with a significant portion reportedly being funneled to the false news media as a form of compensation for publishing favorable narratives about the Democratic party. Politico is suspected to have received $8 million, but it’s unclear if The New York Times was also involved. If this is true, it could potentially be the largest scandal ever—maybe even the biggest in history. The Democrats won’t be able to avoid this one; it’s too massive and too corrupt!

Politico’s History of Pushing Anti-Gamer Narratives

For a long time, Politico has been associated with gaming journalists who promote activist views, often disguising them as efforts to combat “toxicity.” Their extensive reporting on Gamergate tended to portray gamers as extremists reacting irrationally, rather than acknowledging and addressing the genuine concerns about media bias that ignited the debate initially.

A significant number of these stories were influenced by journalists who aimed to portray gaming not just as an entertainment business, but as a “progressive battleground.” This has led to questions about whether the stories’ narratives might have been molded, to some extent, by financial ties between Politico and the government – a connection that could potentially stem from taxpayer-funded incentives.

Mainstream Media’s Government Subsidies Run Deep

Politico isn’t the only one utilizing public funds. As per USASpending.gov, other media organizations that receive government funding are also listed.

  • The Associated Press – $619,968
  • Reuters – $3.1 million
  • The New York Times – $378,266

At this point, Musk and the Trump administration are pushing hard to reduce unnecessary government expenditure, particularly in areas where funds go to waste. Leavitt emphasized that public funds should never support media platforms that prioritize political agendas over public welfare.

The Trump Administration is meticulously scrutinizing every entry in the Federal Government’s financial records,” she explained. “Any expense deemed unnecessary or unbeneficial to the American public will be eliminated.

Politico’s week has been marked by turmoil. A few days prior to the funding scandal surfacing, Semafor disclosed that the company had failed to meet its most recent payroll deadline; however, it subsequently asserted that the problem was rectified. Presently, with a $8 million loss of federal funding, Politico’s future hangs in the balance.

In the realm of gaming, this disclosure supports what many had long assumed – major platforms promoting progressive storylines were frequently supported by the same establishments that gamers aimed to oppose. It seems like we might be nearing the demise of government-funded media propaganda in gaming.
