It’s time to get in the zone for the 2025 Super Bowl.
On February 9th, the Kansas City Chiefs are set to compete against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Guided by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs aim to create NFL history by claiming three straight Super Bowl victories. Not only are they striving to win the championship in 2024 and 2023, but they have already added the Vince Lombardi Trophy to their collection in 2020, just as they did in 1970. With these wins, the Chiefs boast a total of four Super Bowl titles to their name.
Nonetheless, the Eagles aspire to claim their second Super Bowl win, with their latest triumph occurring in 2018. Led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, this determined team is also eager for a replay of the big game. They last competed in the Super Bowl in 2023, where they unfortunately fell to the Chiefs.
While it’s true that the game is a significant part of Sunday’s events, many spectators view the food as the star of the show, some tune in to watch the famous commercials, and others look forward to the Super Bowl Halftime Show. This year, Kendrick Lamar will be performing, and there are plenty of celebrities expected to attend, including Taylor Swift, who is rumored to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs (for a list of celebrity Eagles and Chiefs fans, click here).
Absolutely, no one enjoys feeling left out or making mistakes during a Super Bowl gathering. Since there’s usually a lot to handle, we’ve designed a game day guide that caters to both seasoned football fans and newcomers.
Super Bowl Sunday kicks off at 6:30 p.m. EST on Feb. 9.
The Big Game is heading to The Big Easy and taking place at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.
Viewers have the opportunity to watch the Super Bowl on FOX and FOX Deportes. If they’d rather stream it, they can quickly navigate to Tubi, the NFL app, or live streaming services that carry FOX’s broadcast of the game such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and Fubo (as suggested by Fox Sports).
As a die-hard fan, let me share some thrilling news! The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will be locking horns in Super Bowl LIX. In the grand arena that is the National Football League (NFL), you’ve got 32 teams divided into two conferences: The American Football Conference (AFC) with 16 teams, and the National Football Conference (NFC) with another 16.
The AFC champion squares off against the NFC champion in a titanic battle to determine who will reign supreme as the NFL’s champion for that year—this epic showdown signifies the culmination of the football season. Guess what? The Kansas City Chiefs proudly represent the AFC, while the Philadelphia Eagles stand tall for the NFC. It’s going to be an unforgettable clash, and I can hardly wait!
Apart from earning boastful accolades, the triumphant team of the Super Bowl receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named for the iconic football coach, Vince Lombardi. He led the Green Bay Packers to victory in the first-ever Super Bowl and is highly esteemed within the football community. The players, coaches, executives, and other essential staff members of the winning team are also awarded Super Bowl rings.
This year, the Kansas City Chiefs aim to set a new record by becoming the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. They previously secured victories at the 2024 and 2023 Super Bowls, increasing their title count to four, including triumphs at the 2020 and 1970 games.
The Eagles last claimed a Super Bowl victory in 2018. Although they have only one Super Bowl win to date, they eagerly anticipate bringing another championship home, given that this matchup presents a rematch against the Chiefs following their loss at the 2023 Super Bowl.
Jalen Hurts currently serves as the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, a role he’s held since the year 2020. As reported by NBC Sports Philadelphia, an exceptional feat about him is that in his last seven postseason games, he hasn’t thrown a single interception, while consistently completing at least 20 passes. This unprecedented streak is the longest in NFL history.
1. Saquon Barkley, a running back, is another name to keep in mind as he is nearing the single-season rushing record (including playoffs) set by Hall of Famer Terrell Davis. On Super Bowl Sunday, both Barkley and cornerback Cooper DeJean will be celebrating their birthdays.
2. A.J. Brown, a wide receiver, has been receiving positive feedback for his on-field performance and has gone viral for off-the-field moments such as reading a book during the playoffs.
3. Patrick Mahomes, who joined the Chiefs in 2017, serves as their quarterback. He’s won three Super Bowls (in 2020, 2023, and 2024) and received the MVP award twice by NFL Honors.
4. Chris Jones, the defensive tackle for the Chiefs, holds the fourth most sacks in the team’s history. Travis Kelce, their tight end, is also noteworthy. He’s made headlines for dating Taylor Swift and holds the all-time leading record for receiving touchdowns with the Chiefs.
In most games, the team with the greatest total points at the end of play emerges victorious. For instance, in American football, there are two opposing sides: one attacking (offense) to score points and the other defending (defense) to prevent this.
The offense can earn points through several methods. A touchdown is awarded when a player carries or passes the ball across their opponents’ end zone. For a touchdown to be valid, any part of the ball must cross the goal line, which separates the end zone from the rest of the field.
Scoring a touchdown awards six points. The offense can then attempt to earn additional points by either kicking the ball through the goalposts from the 15-yard line for one point or executing a two-point conversion, where they try to get the ball back into the end zone within one play starting from the two-yard line for an extra two points.
If the offense fails to reach the end zone for a touchdown but is close, they can opt for a field goal instead. This involves kicking the ball through the goalposts for three points. After a team scores, the other team takes possession of the ball to try and score as well.
Let’s discuss some fundamentals: A football field spans 100 yards. Each team has a predetermined number of attempts, known as downs, to carry the ball towards the end zone for a score.
The start of an attempt sees the offense and defense lined up on opposite sides of a line called the line of scrimmage. Neither side can cross this line until the ball is hiked—which means given to the quarterback on the offense to initiate the play.
During four consecutive attempts, or downs, the offense aims to advance the ball at least ten yards by either running with it or passing it. If they succeed, they retain the ball and get another opportunity to move it ten yards or more.
This cycle continues until the offense reaches the end zone or the defense prevents them from advancing ten yards in four downs, giving possession of the ball to the opposing team.
The defense can halt the offense’s advancement by tackling, blocking, intercepting (catching a pass intended for an offensive player), or recovering a fumble (a dropped football during play). The referee may impose penalties on players from either side if they violate the game’s rules.
This week has been quite hectic for Kendrick Lamar. Just days after bagging five awards at the 2025 Grammys, he’s set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Interestingly, this isn’t his first time on that stage. Back in 2022, Kendrick shared it with musical legends like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige during the Halftime Show.
It seems that everyone will participate in the Super Bowl, and it appears that Taylor will attend the game. As Travis Kelce’s brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, told People on February 4th, “I think everybody’s coming in.” While he cautioned not to speak for everyone, he indicated that the whole family, including Travis and his friends, would likely be there. The “Bejeweled” singer is originally from Pennsylvania, but Travis doesn’t expect her to have a strong allegiance to any team. He told NBC Sports Philadelphia reporter John Clark that she might support the Chiefs this time around, while her father, Scott Swift, an Eagles fan, may be torn between teams. When asked if he planned to propose to Taylor during halftime, Travis coyly replied, “Wouldn’t you like to know?” Given the star-studded fanbases of both teams, Taylor is unlikely to be the only famous face at the Superdome.
