2K Games latest in the Civilization franchise is set to release on 11th February.
But before that, here is a quick guide on how to break the game with Rome’s Legion.
Civilization 7 Lafayette Buff
Even though only those who pre-ordered the game are currently enjoying it, there’s been an overwhelming discovery of various exploits. One particularly noteworthy one is the Civilization 7 strategy involving Lafayette’s Legion.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at this charismatic French figure whose influence transforms legions into battle tanks of the modern era! This astonishing prowess stems from his exceptional ability, granting him a +1 combat boost for each tradition bonus he accumulates.
Initially, let’s opt for the Lafayette civilization in Civilization 7. Next, we select the Roman culture as our starting point during the Antiquity era.
However, we’re not only focusing on the Colosseum’s marvel but also on the Legion troops. While these are initial melee units, they can transform into an unstoppable force. This is due to them receiving a bonus of +2 for every tradition in our government system. Notably, our Civilization 7 leader Lafayette provides an additional +1 boost as well.
These bonuses accumulate, so we continue gathering traditions by working on additional social policies which in turn result in more traditions, ultimately allowing us to master the game. To achieve this, we focus on farming extra social policies that will yield traditions, effectively breaking the game.
The main issue here is the limitation of time. You see, once the Ancient era concludes and the sand in the hourglass runs out completely (at 100%), we’ll no longer have access to legions. But if we make strategic moves, there’s a chance we can win the game before this happens. Alternatively, by eliminating most of our opponents prior to this point, we’d gain an advantageous position.
For future reference, let’s acquire both Corpus Juris Civis and the Eagle Banner. The former will provide an initial boost to our social policies, while the latter will grant us a scientific bonus for every notable work within our city. This combination seems beneficial in maintaining our scientific progress.
Legion Beats Gun
Alternatively, fortifying our Legion camps close to iron deposits could further enhance the power of our troops. The proximity to these resources adds an extra point of combat strength to our already reinforced soldiers.
Initially, it might appear that the Legion’s attack force is insignificant. However, as the rounds progress and cultural customs are upheld, the strength of their attacking numbers becomes substantial.
Due to the buffs provided by Civilization 7 for Lafayette, it’s possible to have a Legion with 45 attack midway through the era. With additional bonuses such as the Suzerain leader adding an extra point of damage, we could potentially see the attack power reaching the 60s as the age comes to a close.
To help you understand better, it’s roughly equivalent to a contemporary tank character in the game. However, when we max out our traditional slots at six, we can expect an additional 12 points of combat strength solely from traditions.
By now, it’s time for us to escalate our tactics significantly, approaching a full-scale offensive. However, let’s strive to limit the repercussions of war by denouncing leaders a few turns prior to our action. Lafayette’s strategy in Civilization 7 could be easily disrupted if we launch surprise wars indiscriminately.
On occasion, it’s acceptable, but the penalties for leaping into one in this game are quite severe. Given your approximately 44-strong legions, you shouldn’t find it difficult to conquer any cities you desire.
