EastEnders’ Kellie Bright on how Linda is when she returns from rehab

By 2025, Linda Carter (portrayed by Kellie Bright) found herself in a challenging situation. Due to unchecked alcoholism, she was compelled to seek treatment at a rehabilitation center as her problem with alcohol escalated.

For EastEnders viewers, this implied a temporary absence of Bright from the series, as he was taking some time away for a well-deserved vacation.

Fortunately, after finishing her rehabilitation, Linda is on her way back to Albert Square.

Speaking exclusively, Bright said: “I think she’s in a little bit of a blissful bubble, in a way.

She has been staying at a recovery facility. Now, she’s free from drugs and alcohol. She’s undeniably on her journey to healing, which requires a great deal of personal growth. If you have someone close who has struggled with addiction, there is an undeniable sense of euphoria that comes after giving up one’s substance of choice. I believe she’s experiencing something similar right now.

It seems she has the capacity to help and support others like never before, after a long period of not being able to do so. In essence, she is now in an exciting, fresh situation.

Regarding Bright’s aspirations for Linda’s future as she embarks on a new journey, he expressed: “You know, I don’t wish for her a simple, tranquil life, for it lacks excitement. Instead, I hope she keeps growing and changing.

No matter what, Walford is bound to undergo a transformation as the happenings of its 40th anniversary unfold – with Linda’s cherished Vic going up in smoke, her future is undeniably going to look quite different.
