An inquiry by That Park Place has recently discovered what seems to be troubling financial ties between The Walt Disney Company and the U.S. government, leading to speculation about transparency issues and potential media bias. It appears that federal funds have been channeled to Disney via the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and possibly the Department of Defense through a less transparent organization called Buena Vista Non Theatrical INC., with minimal public oversight or clear rationale behind these payments.
USAID’s Millions for a Disney-Affiliated Show
One notable example of public funds being utilized for Disney’s advantage was the television series named “Team Sayari,” which was supported by USAID. This program, a collaboration between USAID, the U.S. Department of State, The Walt Disney Company, National Geographic, and WildlifeDirect, aimed to foster environmental consciousness among African children.
Based on public information, it’s known that the U.S. administration granted a maximum of $6 million in financial support to Team Sayari in the year 2021, not long after President Biden assumed office.

2022 saw the premiere of this show, yet its widespread influence and longevity are uncertain. Even Internet Movie Database (IMDb) provides limited insight into its present standing.
It’s concerning that the program receives significant financial support yet there seems to be little clarity about its achievements or failures. One might wonder if the public funds were wisely spent, or if this situation represents another instance of the government’s resources being disproportionately allocated to a dominant media conglomerate.
The Mystery of Buena Vista Non Theatrical INC.
Besides the findings from Team Sayari, it has been uncovered by That Park Place that there’s another suspicious financial tie. Over $14.89 million in Department of Defense federal payments were given to a company named Buena Vista Non Theatrical INC. This business appears to have minimal online presence, which immediately raises suspicions. However, our investigation was able to pinpoint its location using MapQuest, and when we tried to access its website, it led to a 403 Forbidden page on disney.go.com, hinting at a possible connection to The Walt Disney Company.
The issue was first noted by Hollywood scooper and That Park Place publisher WDWPro.
Why does the U.S. Department of Defense continually spend large amounts of money on a subsidiary of Disney, totalling millions over the years, for movie production and distribution in cinemas?
This is one example, but there are many:

It’s quite common to find Disney using the name ‘Buena Vista.’ Over the years, they have incorporated it into numerous projects, often referring to Buena Vista Street, which houses the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if Buena Vista Non Theatrical INC. were another company under Disney’s control.

Despite receiving close to $15 million in government funds, there’s no available public record clarifying the purpose of these payments. One plausible (and entirely reasonable) assumption could be that the money was allocated for Shades of Green, a military resort at Walt Disney World. However, without any supporting evidence, this theory remains merely conjecture.
It’s reasonable to suppose that the money might be used to secure theatrical rights to screen Disney movies or to offer streaming access on military bases. If this is correct, it brings up an intriguing point: why doesn’t Disney, a corporation known for its emphasis on social responsibility, not provide such a service free of charge as a show of corporate patriotism? Since Disney has vast financial means, waiving these costs for service members would be a minor action with a large impact—one that would align well with the values Disney frequently promotes.
The possibility that a significant media group might have received unacknowledged funds from taxpayers, regardless of their legitimacy, is something that ought to worry every American.
The Media’s Role in Hiding the Truth
Adding another layer of complexity to the scenario is ABC News, a division owned by Disney, that has been vocal in its criticism towards Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), raising further questions and potential conflicts.
Elon Musk’s team is focusing on examining potential waste in government expenditure, including instances where USAID spends money questionably. Some commentators at ABC News have portrayed these actions as being politically biased or excessive, which prompts the question: Is ABC’s coverage impartial, or are they defending their parent company’s financial wellbeing?

This is the core issue at hand: transparency.
It’s important that the public understands why and how Disney subsidiaries are getting taxpayer funds, given the large amounts of public money possibly going to these Disney-linked organizations. The absence of proper supervision in this regard raises questions.
Where Do We Go From Here?
At “That Park Place”, we remain dedicated to pursuing our inquiry further. Over time, federal agencies have had complex financial dealings with large media conglomerates, and this situation might merely scratch the surface of a larger issue. We plan to examine government expenditures associated with ABC, Marvel, National Geographic, as well as other Disney-owned ventures, to ascertain if public funds may have unwittingly found their way into the coffers of this corporate titan.

It’s essential that the American people have complete clarity about where their funds are going, particularly when they’re being used to bolster one of the globe’s most influential entertainment giants like Disney. If the government is using taxpayer dollars to subsidize Disney, it’s high time we called for accountability and transparency in these transactions.
