It appears that the development of Crysis 4 might face some challenges. Recently, developer Crytek announced layoffs affecting 60 of their staff members, which is around 15% of their 400-person team. It seems that the much-anticipated sequel has been put on hold since last year.
The company’s assessment about its present condition is quite straightforward. It discusses the challenging market conditions, which it terms as unfavorable, and states that its earlier growth trend was considered unsustainable.
Essentially, Crytek will be concentrating on its multiplayer extraction shooter game, Hunt: Showdown, for the time being, as they work towards securing the company’s stability.
Despite our continuous attempts to lower costs and trim operational expenditures, it’s become clear that layoffs will unfortunately be necessary for us to progress further. We extend our warmest wishes to those affected by these reductions at Crytek.
It was confirmed in January 2022 that Crysis 4 is on its way – a full nine years after the debut of Crysis 3. Evidently, there has been some delay in launching this project; it seems like it may face another setback.
