Exciting news for me as a Pokémon Go fan! Pokémon Go has just revealed a partnership with Major League Baseball, starting on opening day this season. This means that PokeStops and Routes will be branded officially at multiple ballparks across the league. At least 13 teams are scheduled to have Pokémon-themed nights during the 2025 season, offering in-game bonuses for attendees. These perks include team baseball hats for avatars, Special Timed Research, and a unique catchable Pikachu with a special stadium background. The following are the announced event dates:
- Cleveland Guardians – Friday, May 9th, 2025
- Seattle Mariners – Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025
- Miami Marlins – Friday, July 18th, 2025
- Milwaukee Brewers – Friday, July 25th, 2025
- San Diego Padres – Monday, July 28th, 2025
- Arizona Diamondbacks – Sunday, August 10th, 2025
- Chicago White Sox – Monday, August 11th, 2025
- Baltimore Orioles – Wednesday, August 13th, 2025
- New York Mets – Monday, August 25th, 2025
- Boston Red Sox – Friday, August 29th, 2025
- San Francisco Giants – Friday, August 29th, 2025

In many ballparks across the U.S. and Canada, you’ve probably come across PokeStops and routes associated with Pokémon Go. But, an alliance between Pokémon Go and Major League Baseball (MLB) is set to introduce officially branded ones within the game, potentially enhancing their locations and images. This partnership will last for at least three seasons, so it’ll be exciting to witness how this collaboration develops over time. Perhaps more teams will host theme nights because of this, giving more players an opportunity to engage with the alliance. In a recent announcement, Sarah Gilarsky, head of business development at Pokémon Go, discussed Niantic’s plans for the collaboration.
Gilarsky expressed his joy about teaming up with MLB, stating that they aim to enhance the enjoyment and interaction of Pokemon GO at stadiums nationwide. This innovative blend of digital Pokemon GO gameplay with the traditional experience of watching a baseball game at an MLB ballpark provides an excellent opportunity for friends and families to bond over their shared interests in Pokemon and baseball.
Starting from its launch in 2016, Niantic has formed alliances with numerous businesses, enabling them to host sponsored PokeStops and promotions. The latest of these partnerships is with McDonald’s, which provides new PokeStop and Gym locations, plus time-specific Lure Modules and Raids. Although some establishments may not be keen on Pokemon Go players coming by, offering game content in these places is likely to attract visitors who might not have come otherwise. This benefits both McDonald’s and MLB, and it’s clear that Pokemon Go also stands to gain from such collaborations.
