We have no idea how we overlooked the announcement of Samson: A Tyndalston Story, but Sony really needs to prioritize getting this game on the PlayStation 5.
The new PC game from Liquid Swords – a studio formed by former Avalanche Studios developers – appears to be the long-awaited spiritual successor to the surprisingly good, but often overlooked, PS4 game Mad Max.
The game’s developers recently shared details on its Steam page, explaining that it takes place in the 1990s and draws inspiration from classic films starring Robert De Niro, such as Ronin and Heat.
This game features both close-quarters fighting and intense car battles. Each vehicle feels unique thanks to its realistic weight and handling.
The developers told me each whip feels totally unique to drive – they’ve really tweaked how they handle. It’s not just about going fast, you actually feel the difference between these racing machines and the cars you’d drive around town every day.
As a racing fan, what I really love is how realistic the crashes are! It’s not just a simple spin-out; you actually feel the damage. Things like tires blowing out and your steering getting messed up really make you adjust your driving and adds to the challenge – it’s super immersive!
We think this is excellent, and considering the team’s strong track record, we’re surprised it isn’t receiving more recognition.
I’m really hoping Sony’s team has reached out to Liquid Swords! Their game feels like a perfect match for a proper console release, and I’d be so excited to see it happen.
