Everwild is Making Progress, Says Microsoft Gaming CEO

As a dedicated Xbox fan, I can’t help but notice the intriguing case of Rare’s Everwild, one of the Xbox first-party titles that has been notably absent for quite some time. The mysterious disappearance and subsequent resurfacings of this title have certainly left many of us in the gaming community intrigued and somewhat concerned.

In 2019, we were initially introduced to Everwild, but since then, there’ve been high-level departures, rumors of development reboots, and a few unexpected twists along the way. However, towards the end of 2024, we finally caught a glimpse of some stunning new artwork that hinted at its continued existence.

Reports have circulated claiming that Everwild’s development is now progressing smoothly, but what does Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer have to say about it? Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for more updates in the near future!

Discussing his most anticipated game with XboxEra, Spencer commented, “It’s been quite some time since then, but we’ve managed to provide our teams the necessary time for their projects, which has been beneficial, while maintaining the diverse game portfolio that we currently possess.

As a gamer, it’s been a long-held dream for me and Matt (Booty), and now, it feels surreal to be here. It’s our turn to let other teams have their moment on the field.

Spencer hasn’t given any details about a possible release timeframe or re-introduction, but there’s optimism that the new artwork might be hinting at something for this year. Xbox has been doing quite well recently, with a busy 2025 schedule (which includes the recently launched “Avowed”) and numerous games making their way onto other platforms as well.

It’s rumored that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will arrive on PS5 soon, and it’s possible that Bethesda’s Starfield could follow suit according to other whispers. Keep an eye out for any official announcements in the next few weeks.
