Marvel Stops Work on Three Disney+ TV Shows (Including One Fans Have Been Begging For)

Marvel has reportedly hit the pause button on three TV shows being developed for Disney+. Deadline reports Marvel Television has paused production on NovaStrange Academy, and Terror, Inc. There have been various rumors and reports regarding some of these shows, most notably Nova, and for some fans, this will be the first that they’ve heard about Strange Academy and Terror, Inc. Unfortunately, it appears that if you were excited about any of these three shows then you’ll have a longer wait ahead of you. Though sources state the projects could see the light of day, even though they haven’t been officially greenlit.

The decision to pause production on NovaStrange Academy, and Terror, Inc. comes from Marvel’s change in strategy for its streaming shows. Marvel previously handled television like it does big-budget movies: announcing a slate of upcoming features that fans would eventually get as time moved on. However, that process has since changed, with Marvel going the traditional route with TV by bringing in showrunners to help steer the ship.

In simpler terms, Marvel’s streaming chief, Brad Winderbaum, recently discussed the hurdles Marvel Studios encountered lately and the lessons they’ve picked up along the way.

During the press conference for Echo, Winderbaum stated, “We’ve gained a great deal of knowledge.” Rapidly producing a large amount of content, as a company primarily focused on filmmaking, has allowed us to create shows that possess a cinematic structure. In essence, our initial series have a character arc that is resolved by the end and feel like self-contained miniseries.

He mentioned, “In the time ahead, our content will have a stronger resemblance to television programming. It’s like a journey heading towards the horizon, moving towards the future, and maintaining viewer engagement for extended periods of time, in the relaxed atmosphere of your living room. To distinguish it, I must say, from the immersive, cinematic experiences found in movie theaters.

Previously, Brad Winderbaum revealed to ComicBook that a Nova production was being worked on at Disney+. “We’re big fans of Nova,” said Winderbaum to ComicBook. “We’re currently in the very early stages of development for Nova.

Winderbaum stated, “Marvel Studios has implemented a fresh production setup. We’re operating more like a conventional studio now, focusing on development rather than just production. We’ve got plans for developing the character Nova. I’m a big fan of Nova and Rich Rider too. I truly hope it makes it to our screens someday. The world is constantly turbulent with numerous projects in the works. It takes a bit of magic to bring these ideas to life, but I’d be thrilled to see a Nova series one day.
