The Pitt’s Shabana Azeez Teases “Lots of Breakdowns” in Season 2

Prepare to see a lot more trauma on The Pitt‘s second season—and not just injuries.

Shabana Azeez, who plays medical student Victoria Javadi on HBO Max’s show, hinted that we’ll see several emotional breakdowns, much like the one Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) had during his shift in the first season.

The actress shared in an interview with TopMob News at a Los Angeles event on January 8th that filming is still ongoing. She mentioned she was working on set today and will continue to do so tomorrow.

The new season will continue to be set entirely within the emergency room of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, and Shabana promises it will feature a lot of blood.

“Not a spoiler,” she quipped, “because obviously there’s gonna be heaps of gore.”

Similar to the daytime and nighttime teams, the actors and crew have become a close-knit group, feeling like family.

The atmosphere on set hasn’t changed despite the recent success of The Pitt at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, according to the 28-year-old. She said it’s still a very positive and friendly environment to work in.

Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan, feels the same way. She was especially excited to see her castmate Shawn Hatosy direct an episode this season.

She told TopMob in January how much she enjoyed working with Shawn, praising his talent and how well-prepared he is as a director. She said she genuinely loves collaborating with him.

Twenty-eight-year-old Supriya is looking forward to developing the romantic connection between her character and Dr. Jack Abbot, played by Shawn.

Samira is very dedicated to her work and, at least recently, hasn’t seemed to realize there’s an issue. There’s a fascinating relationship between them, though – he deeply respects her and has a lot of faith in her abilities.

You can watch new episodes of The Pitt every Thursday on HBO Max. For updates on other returning TV shows this year, continue reading!

The show follows Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles), a highly skilled surgeon who unexpectedly gives up his successful career in Boston to become a small-town doctor in the coastal village where he grew up. While Martin is capable of solving any medical problem, he secretly just wants to be left alone. He constantly finds himself entangled in the town’s dramas, conflicts, and personal lives. Unbeknownst to everyone, Martin’s gruff exterior hides a new, crippling phobia and unresolved childhood issues that prevent him from forming close relationships.
