As a die-hard fan, I’d be more than eager to leap from rafter to rafter, vocally championing my beloved mentor, Abby Lee Miller, who was poised and prepared to fiercely defend her former pupil, the incredible Maddie Ziegler.
In an exclusive chat with Francesca Amiker from TopMob News, the former Dance Moms star disclosed that she has left several jobs behind. The first instance was when her request for Maddie to participate in the Sia video was denied, prompting her to say, “Pack up your things, leave my premises.
However, the founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company firmly believed it was important for her 11-year-old star to seize the day and act as if there were no tomorrow.
She claimed that the producers did not approve when Maddie secured a spot in the “Chandelier” video in 2014, stating, “They wouldn’t let her do it,” and she responded, “Well, she’s going to go ahead anyway.
After the preteen had come back from her initial collaboration with her “guardian angel” songwriter Maddie, who was likened to a unique experience with wigs – an event she reportedly described as such, Abby claimed that they gave her a solo that day, purposely putting her in an uncomfortable situation to potentially fail. However, the 59-year-old revealed that she had orchestrated a strategy: “We simply reused an old solo and changed the music,” she shared, explaining that they hadn’t even realized it.
It’s a little disheartening to find myself stepping back from the limelight shared with Maddie and my younger sister, Kenzie Ziegler, after all the hard work I’ve put in. It seems like I’m not quite keeping up with their ascent on the proverbial dance pyramid anymore.
Reflecting on her ordeal with cancer and the urgent spinal surgery she underwent, Abby pondered, “Here I lay, near death in a hospital bed, and who was there for me?
Abby pointed out that a few of her students demonstrated her irreplaceable nature, mentioning Elliana Walmsley and Maesi Caesi among them. However, she maintains a particularly close bond with Kalani Hilliker and JoJo Siwa.
Abby mentioned that she frequently communicates with JoJo, implying they’re regularly in touch about various opportunities linked to “Dance Moms.” Abby added that they’ve formed a sort of partnership. They have an agreement where if they both agree to participate in something, they will, but if not, they won’t. (One of the instances where JoJo agreed was when she sat down with Abby for a chat on her “Leave it on the Dance Floor” podcast last August.)
As for Abby, she’s still very much livin’ on the dance floor.
She enthusiastically agreed when asked if she would repeat the experience. “Ten years ago, even before reality TV became popular, I had quite an adventure. I could have done it then, and I’m ready to do it again now. If need be, I could begin anew as soon as tomorrow.
If she hadn’t been engaged in the midst of her second act, where she instructs a fresh group of older dancers to hold back their tears and express them on their pillows instead.
In the midst of her team being predominantly on the second season of “Mad House,” airing February 27 on Brandon TV, she noted a change in dynamic compared to her previous junior elite competition team. The cast comprises new faces such as Haley Huelsman from “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition,” Donovyn Diaz, a fan favorite from “America’s Got Talent,” and Dakayla Wilson, who was recently linked to JoJo on “So You Think You Can Dance.” She described the team as distinct because it lacks parents, allowing her to communicate freely without holding back. The dancers are expected to respond, and they often don’t.
Instead, said Abby, they’re focused on remaining “booked and busy.”
Abby clarified that aspiring performers viewed the infamously named venue as an opportunity to gain exposure on television and be part of a trendy show. However, she soon realized that they ended up going on tour, performing at award shows like the Country Music Awards, and engaging in various activities. The environment was highly competitive, but it was equally rewarding to witness these young talents landing jobs, which explained their presence there.
Despite her claims that everyone can be easily replaced, she firmly believed, “The youngsters from Mad House, they hold a promising future,” she asserted. “Whether it’s on a cruise ship, Broadway, or in a music video, they have a bright future, and we are making every effort to help them achieve it.
It wouldn’t be surprising if they were among the many students of Abby who have become well-known in their individual performances. Take a look at how her Dance Moms pupils are excelling in their solo performances.
Since more than a decade has passed since the dancer from Pennsylvania, who became our beloved star at Abby Lee Dance Company, she’s soared in popularity from being featured in music videos of popular singer Sia to acting in films such as Sia’s directorial debut “Music”, the 2021 remake of “West Side Story” and the upcoming movie “My Old Ass”.
Apart from that, she published a New York Times bestseller memoir titled “The Maddie Diaries” in 2017. She also evaluated fresh talents on the show “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation”. Additionally, she collaborated with her younger sister, Kenzie Ziegler, for their podcast named “Take 20 With Maddie and Kenzie”. In an interview with TopMob News, Maddie stated, “We aimed to lower our defenses and share something less polished, and instead, have a more relaxed, casual conversation.
In the future, she plans to establish her personal beauty empire. She shared, “One day, I aspire to create my own line, which I believe would be truly incredible – a dream I’ve cherished for a long time.
Having moved beyond her acrobatic days, one of the singer’s recent releases is the 2023 song titled “Anatomy,” a deeply personal ballad about her strained relationship with her father. She shared with People magazine that stepping out of her comfort zone was indeed the case with this single: “I’m expressing myself in a different, more genuine way than just on social media—this time I’m telling my own story.
Indeed, showing great reverence to the approximately 15 million followers of “Dance Mom” on Instagram, she delved even more intensely for her third album titled “biting my tongue,” released in July 2024.
She shared with TopMob News, “This is the first time I’ve been able to discuss events from my life and reveal aspects that matter deeply to me. My hope is that people gain something meaningful from it—either joy, sorrow, or a sense of familiarity.
Almost ten years since she last bid farewell on “Dance Moms”, the award-winning soloist was eager to resume dancing on the stage once more.
As a dance enthusiast with an unquenchable passion, I yearned to reconnect with the art form that had once captured my heart so profoundly. So, when the opportunity presented itself to collaborate with my mom, Christi Lukasiak, along with the mother-daughter duo of Diane and Brittany Pent, on the inception of Elevé National Dance Competition, I seized it with both hands. However, my objective was not merely to revive the past; instead, I aimed to construct something entirely different – a positive and uplifting environment. I set out to create a platform that would rekindle my love for dance, and perhaps ignite the same passion in others.
Despite wrapping up the competition a year ago, the Pepperdine University graduate continues to be dynamic. Primarily concentrating on content creation, she’s also penning her debut fantasy novel, as shared with TopMob News in 2023. Instead of trading individual journeys for group travel, the senior members from the original cast organized a trip to Costa Rica in 2023. They shared on Instagram in July that “over the course of seven days, we transitioned from strangers into friends who were emotional while bidding farewell at the airport.
Following that, I embarked on an unforgettable six-day adventure across Croatia, reminiscent of the incredible European backpacking journey I undertook post-graduation from Ohio University. I immersed myself in breathtaking landscapes and rich cultures, forging bonds that would last a lifetime. “I reveled in the beauty, learned about diverse cultures, and made friends for life,” I enthusiastically recounted. “It was the journey of a lifetime!
In the United States, a Pittsburgh resident – who got engaged to Brian Thalman, an account manager, in May 2024 – effectively utilizes her marketing degree. She does this not only through her Bite-Sized Foodie Instagram account but also by collaborating with her sister Paige on their joint venture, the Hyland Sisters brand.

Following her successful graduation from West Virginia University in May 2023, which was met with congratulations from Christi Lukasiak on social media, this model and influencer has been traveling extensively across the United States, visiting places like the Hamptons, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Among Paige’s top travel companions (besides her older sister Brooke) is her long-term boyfriend, Jayvon Thrift, who used to play football in college. In a 2022 post, she expressed her affection for him by saying, “I adore you in every possible way,” highlighting his role as a fitness model.

In only two seasons of the original series, JoJo with a Bow Bow, who had previously been on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, seemingly seized the limelight. This led to a significant increase in her YouTube fanbase, a special licensing agreement with Nickelodeon, an abundance of branded merchandise, and even being included on Time’s list of 100 most influential people in 2020.
She once told Kelly Ripa that one of the most important lessons she learned from Dance Moms was to either manage or struggle – not literally in a swimming pool, but rather to have the ability to persevere and remain determined.
Currently, she’s not just keeping afloat; she’s making significant waves. In 2021, the LGBTQ+ role model teamed up with Jenna Johnson to participate as the first same-sex pair on the American adaptation of “Dancing with the Stars.
Currently, her sights are set on an even larger platform. She shared with Raven-Symoné and Miranda Pearman-Maday, “My ambition, my ambition, my ambition, my ambition is to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.” After achieving that goal, as she revealed during a 2023 episode of The Best Podcast Ever, her plans are to retire and start a family.

Indeed, the dancer who made her debut in season 4 and initially gained fame on “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition,” continues to excel at every graceful pirouette. She has returned to dancing and instructing with a vengeance, as she shared. “I have a unique approach to teaching compared to Abby or most of my past dance mentors,” the dancer revealed. “I strive to be kind, but it’s also crucial to motivate them to reach their full potential.” In August 2024, she happily announced her engagement to Nathan Goldman.
Reframe the sentence: Looking back, we can say that Asia has officially grown up in Asia. Despite stepping away from the spotlight at the tender age of 10 following a stint on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, Dance Moms, and her own show Raising Asia, she expressed to TopMob News in 2021 that she had an overall positive experience. However, she was aware that not everyone else might have shared the same sentiment. “There isn’t a single thing I would change about my experience,” she said, acknowledging that it wasn’t always easy for her fellow cast members.
In June 2023, she’ll be concluding her high school journey as valedictorian, and she expressed her immense pride in reaching a personal milestone on Instagram, eagerly anticipating the future.
Due to numerous business partnerships, invitations to all sorts of high-profile events, and the recent launch of her catchy dance track “Oh Boys” along with its accompanying album, her career looks promising.
Speaking of her reality star history, I can’t help but reminisce about the incredible journey I embarked on, living my life under the public eye. It may appear overwhelming, but truth be told, it was an extraordinary experience that has shaped me in ways I could never have imagined. A gift, if you will, that I hold dear and am eternally grateful for.
Ever since he joined the team during season 7, the St. Louis native has been dancing on considerably bigger stages.
