5 Xbox Exclusives That Still Need to Come to PS5

Previously exclusive Xbox games will start appearing on Sony’s PlayStation 5 in large numbers, as indicated by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. In interviews, he’s emphasized that no game is off-limits now. On March 4th, the game “Age of Mythology: Retold” will be available on PS5, and “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Forza Horizon 5,” and “Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition” are all expected to arrive in spring. This comes after recent PS5 releases for “Hi-Fi Rush,” “Sea of Thieves,” “Pentiment,” and “Grounded.

Looking ahead, numerous games are on the horizon for release, including anticipated titles such as “The Outer Worlds 2”, “DOOM: The Dark Ages”, and “Ninja Gaiden 4”. Given that Xbox’s multiplatform future is now a reality, it’s worth considering which significant Xbox games – be they classic or recent – should also appear on PS5 in the not-too-distant future. Since everything seems up for grabs at this stage, it feels only fair to discuss potential crossovers.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Microsoft’s decisive move in implementing its multi-platform strategy for Xbox will be evident once they introduce a Halo video game on PlayStation consoles. The studio could opt for a newer game such as Halo Infinite or start porting Halo to PS5 with the next new installment, but I believe releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PS5 first would send a powerful message. This re-mastered collection encompasses every mainline game in the series up to Halo 4, making it ideal for introducing PlayStation players to the series for the first time. Such a port would generate quite a stir, and I’m increasingly convinced that it’s not a question of if, but when this will occur.

Avowed

Don’t overlook the recently released RPG game from Xbox and Obsidian Entertainment – Avowed. With a core similar to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it offers a streamlined, engaging experience that combines impressive storytelling with pulse-pounding combat. I wholeheartedly suggest this game for anyone who appreciates immersive fantasy RPGs. Interestingly, Obsidian Entertainment appears to be dedicated to bringing its games to the PS5; Pentiment and Grounded have already been adapted, and The Outer Worlds 2 will debut on PS5 simultaneously. This might seem odd as Avowed wasn’t available for the PS5 at launch, but it also increases the likelihood of the game eventually being playable on PlayStation.

Gears 5

In the hall of fame of outstanding Xbox series, Gears of War stands shoulder to shoulder with Halo and Forza. If Halo and Forza migrate to PS5, it would only be fair for Gears of War to join them too. Regarding which title The Coalition should transfer, Gears of War doesn’t have a comprehensive collection like Halo; the 2014 release, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, appears quite outdated now.

If Xbox is eager to showcase the Gears of War series on PS5 before the release of ‘Gears of War: E-Day’ or if rumors about a remastered trilogy are false, it might be strategic to port ‘Gears 5’ to the console instead. The visuals of ‘Gears 5’ were among the most impressive in the last generation of consoles and even outshine many native Xbox Series X games. By releasing ‘Gears 5’ on PS5, Microsoft could demonstrate its technical expertise to PlayStation gamers.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

In the November of last year, Microsoft introduced a new installment in their prolonged Flight Simulator series, which is Xbox‘s latest edition. Though these games are primarily for dedicated enthusiasts who delight in spending extended periods virtually soaring from one airport to another, they stand out for their remarkable ability to precisely depict the entire globe for players to traverse. Given the nature of a simulator like this, it seems only logical that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 won’t remain exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC for much longer. Even if you’re not particularly drawn to this game, a PS5 port of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could bring joy to many.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

Among the latest exclusive games on Xbox Series X|S that I’m eager to play on PS5 is “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II”. This game, developed by Ninja Theory, boasts stunning visuals and shares a narrative-driven, third-person action style reminiscent of beloved PlayStation exclusives such as “God of War Ragnarok”. Released on PC and Xbox Series X|S last May, it’s yet to appear on PS5. However, given the trend of multiplatform games by Microsoft, I wouldn’t be shocked if it eventually does. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if many games published by Xbox in the past decade eventually come over to PlayStation as well.
