He noted: “In Scandinavia, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ is known as ‘Men Who Hate Women.’ This narrative paints Scandinavia as a region filled with intricate and captivating enigmas.
People might not explicitly state that they’re avoiding Sweden due to ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, but it seems they are more interested in watching Scandinavian crime dramas, which we could compare to a Jamaican version of this genre.
In a fresh five-episode run, Tamara Lawrance, known for her roles in Time and Mr Loverman, steps into the limelight as Millie-Jean Black. Once an outstanding detective at Scotland Yard, she has now come back to her birthplace, Kingston, where she’s now part of the Jamaican Police Force.
Her strong commitment towards finding missing children is evident, serving as the primary motivation behind her tireless efforts on challenging casework.
However, the atmosphere begins to grow more and more strained as another detective from Scotland Yard, Luke Holborn (played by Joe Dempsie), arrives in Jamaica following a connection with one of Millie’s ongoing investigations.

In this role as Millie’s sister Hibiscus, we find Chyna McQueen shining. She has also commended the show for its portrayal of trans and queer characters within Jamaica, expressing: “This series is trailblazing, showcasing genuine Jamaican authenticity. It delves into mystery, crime, and violence.
