In the upcoming issue of “Doctor Strange of Asgard,” there’s an exciting Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up! The storyline shifts Doctor Strange from Earth to Asgard, where he aims to assume the role of the new Sorcerer Supreme after being stripped of the title by Doctor Doom during the conclusion of “Blood Hunt.” However, Stephen Strange finds himself adrift without purpose following this event. In “Doctor Strange of Asgard,” he sets out to regain his direction, but encounters a significant hurdle – a murder mystery that requires resolution. To help him unravel the case, some familiar faces are expected to make appearances in future issues.
Exclusively for ComicBook, we present an early sneak peek at Doctor Strange of Asgard #2 penned by Derek Landy and illustrated by Carlos Magno, accompanied by the cover art and description for Doctor Strange of Asgard #4. In this issue #2 preview, Loki and Clea make their appearance. The duo seems to engage in some powerful magic, but it’s Loki who appears to be at a disadvantage as he finds himself under a spell, while Clea and Doctor Strange watch on.
On the second page, Loki is pinned down by enchanted shackles, after which we cut back to Earth where Doctor Strange and Clea are strolling through a rain-soaked street. Subsequently, Doctor Strange attends to a wounded redhead on Asgard, marking our initial glimpse into “Doctor Strange of Asgard” #2. The issue concludes with the enigmatic assailant armed with a colossal ax and masked helmet launching an assault against Doctor Strange.
Absolutely, Doctor Strange, Thor, and Loki are key characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Interestingly, Clea made her appearance in the MCU during the closing credits of 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. Notably, Charlize Theron portrayed Clea in this film.
Suddenly, we find ourselves in uncharted waters as Doctor Strange now grapples not just with the everyday aspects of Asgardian society, but also finds himself embroiled in a murder case that seems to be demanding his attention when he has none to spare,” Landy remarked upon the announcement of Doctor Strange of Asgard.
Magno stated, “When tasked with illustrating ‘Doctor Strange from Asgard,’ I envisioned readers witnessing the sorcerer surrounded by the resplendent and enchanting grandeur of Asgard, complete with towering statues and awe-inspiring architecture. This time, to our delightful astonishment, Derek Landy and I will present an alternative view, immersing the reader in the gritty reality of Thor’s homeland – exposing its less glamorous aspects, revealing dark, chilling, snow-laden alleys, and hinting at the sinister forces lurking in the shadows.
In issue #4 of “Doctor Strange of Asgard,” I find myself in a precarious position sandwiched between Thor and Loki, and neither one seems thrilled about the situation. Thor, his face stern, holds Mjolnir aloft, its electric charge crackling menacingly, while Loki, with a wicked glint in his eye, attempts to strike Thor with a knife. It’s a tense standoff that promises an action-packed continuation!
