Sinners’ Wunmi Mosaku Debuts Pregnancy at Golden Globes 2026

Sinners Wunmi Mosaku brought a scene-stealing plus-one to the 2026 Golden Globes.

The actress revealed she’s expecting another child by intentionally showing off her baby bump at the Golden Globes on January 11th. She gave birth to her first daughter seven months before starting her role as a voodoo practitioner in Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed horror movie. (Check out all the red carpet looks!)

For the event, Mosaku wore a beautiful, flowing yellow halter gown designed by Matthew Reisman. She posed for pictures, tenderly holding her baby bump.

Just so she’s clear.

Mosaku explained to Vogue that she wanted to address potential rumors and questions before they started. She said people had already begun to speculate about whether she was pregnant, if she’d gained weight, or why she chose a particular outfit.

I really want to be myself – a pregnant woman – and celebrate this incredible film and the team behind it, while also cherishing this special time in my life. That’s why I’ve decided to stop hiding my baby bump at the Golden Globes, so I can fully enjoy this moment with my little one.

I’m absolutely thrilled for Sinners! It’s incredible to see it nominated for seven Golden Globes. Seriously, seven! They’re up for Best Motion Picture-Drama, and Michael B. Jordan is nominated for Best Actor – he deserves it! Plus, Ryan Coogler is recognized for his directing and screenplay, and Ludwig Göransson is nominated twice – once for the score and again with Raphael Saadiq for their amazing song, “I Lied to You.” And to top it all off, they’re also nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. It’s a huge moment for everyone involved, and I couldn’t be happier!

Mosaku, who recently kept her pregnancy a secret at the Critics Choice Awards, shared that her baby has been a source of strength throughout the process. She wants to celebrate the journey and the collaborative effort it took to reach this point, acknowledging it wasn’t always easy. Reflecting on her Yoruba heritage, she explained that the phrase ‘Iya ni Wúrà’ – meaning ‘mother is golden’ – resonated with her when she saw the sketches for a stunning custom yellow dress by Matthew Reisman, confirming it was the perfect choice for this special moment.

The Nigerian actress generally prefers to keep her personal life private, but becoming a new mother made her deeply connect with her role as Annie, a character grieving the loss of a daughter. This project was also her first experience balancing the demands of work and motherhood on set.

She explained to W magazine that switching from breastfeeding at every meal to pumping was a real shock. She hadn’t realized how much of a mood boost she was getting from the oxytocin released while nursing, and the sudden stop felt like a harsh withdrawal. In her haste to keep up, she accidentally cut her thumb, wasting an entire morning at urgent care. Her husband jokingly asked what her mother, Annie, would have done in the situation.

While Annie probably would have had an herb or a charm for that, Mosaku had other ideas.

The actress explained that her character would have prioritized spending quality time with her daughter. The character feels a strong, almost primal pull towards her husband, Smoke (played by Jordan), who returns from a business trip to Chicago with his twin brother, Stack (also Jordan). The actress shared that she learned a valuable lesson from working with Annie: it’s important to slow down and be present.

Hopefully, Mosaku had a chance to appreciate the beautiful photos taken of her Golden Globes outfit. Check out all the amazing red carpet fashion here:
