Pomp’s theory: Trump deliberately crashed markets to get interest rates down

Well, now, bless my soul, this here Anthony Pompliano fella, a Bitcoin commentator if you please, says the Trump administration might be up to some hanky-panky in the stock market. Seems they’re tryin’ to rattle the cage of that Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, and get him to lower interest rates, like coaxin’ a mule with a sweet carrot 🥕.

Pompliano reckons Trump and his Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, are tryin’ to pull a fast one and crash asset prices just to force Powell’s hand. They’re up to their eyeballs in debt, somethin’ like $7 trillion, and they need a little wiggle room, y’see.

Now, back in January, Powell said “Hold your horses!” to Trump’s pleas for lower rates. But Pompliano says Trump’s tariffs are spookin’ the market and makin’ folks nervous. He even says the 10-year Treasury yield’s dropin’ like a stone, which, according to him, means Trump’s scheme is workin’ like a charm!

Of course, whether Pompliano’s theory holds water is another story altogether. But the stock market’s been actin’ like a wild bronco lately, and crypto’s takin’ it on the chin even harder. Those big market funds are plummetin’ faster than a poker player after a bad hand, and Bitcoin? Well, let’s just say it’s lookin’ a little greener on the other side.

Pompliano thinks this whole thing’s gonna come down to a “who blinks first” showdown between Trump and Powell. He even points to a Trump interview where he said somethin’ about high interest rates keepin’ folks from gettin’ rich. Seems like Trump’s got a little somethin’ to say about it,

The Federal Reserve, though, they’re playin’ it cool so far. They ain’t keen on lowerin’ interest rates when inflation’s runnin’ wild. But if Trump keeps this “Trumpcession” goin’, they might just have to change their tune.
