DC’s Pride Anthology Returns With a Twist

This year, DC has revealed the comeback of their DC Pride anthology for its fifth consecutive run. In contrast to past editions, the 2025 version will introduce an innovative change: it will be a continuous storyline composed of interconnected narratives, rather than just a compilation of individual tales. The renowned creators contributing to this year’s DC Pride anthology include Tim Sheridan, Vita Ayala, Josh Trujillo, Skylar Patridge, A.L. Kaplan, Max Sarin, and others.

2025’s DC Pride celebration embodies joy, affection, and the strength of unity, particularly during challenging periods, noted Tim Sheridan, a writer nominated for GLAAD Media Awards for his series “Alan Scott: The Green Lantern”. The lineup of artists crafting this tale is as grandiose as the narrative itself, so strap in for high-octane action, immense amusement, and higher stakes than ever. This book, much like previous years, serves as a means to connect with our community and reinforce the message that we’re all in this journey together.

Jude Ellison S. Doyle, writer of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series The Neighbors, expressed great pride at being involved in DC’s storytelling. She also shared her excitement about introducing new character Ethan Rivera, along with her cherished friend and trans icon Blue Snowman, into this world. It was a delight for her to collaborate with Josh Trujillo on this project, and she mentioned A.L. Kaplan, whom she has not worked with since Maw, as an upcoming legend whose work continues to inspire her. Additionally, she found it rewarding and healing to create comics alongside fellow queer individuals, and she couldn’t be more pleased with the talented team she had the opportunity to collaborate with.

Vita Ayala, writer of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series New Mutants, shared that the collaboration on this project was particularly meaningful to her because it mirrored the theme at its core. We all brought our unique ideas for our individual pieces of the narrative, and by the end, our stories had become so interconnected that it’s challenging to distinguish where one person’s contribution ends and another begins. By working together, we created a space that (we hope) feels inclusive to everyone, regardless of which entry or aspect of the story they first encountered.

In June 4th, you’ll find the release of DC Pride 2025, featuring a lineup of variant covers throughout the month that celebrate DC Pride. The storyline of DC Pride 2025 revolves around a century-old tavern, a vital hub for LGBTQ+ life in Gotham City, which is on the verge of closing. This closure deeply affects the community as it represents a significant loss and a lifetime of memories, dreams, and bonds. Among the returning patrons is Alan Scott, the Green Lantern, who returns to the tavern one last time, where he shared his first love with Johnny Ladd. He touches the wall that bears their symbol of love, reminisces about happier times before hardships hit them, and ultimately says goodbye.

Love, in Alan’s view, has a magical quality that often develops a momentum of its own. Unnoticed by many, characters from the DCU, such as the Question, Midnighter and Apollo, Harley Quinn, Green Lantern Jo Mullein, Bunker, Connor Hawke, and Blue Snowman, are drawn to an enigmatic place. This mysterious location has a way of leading these heroes, villains, and ordinary folks into distant realms where their deepest desires can become reality…yet the price for this newfound paradise may prove too steep.
