Despite other similar games like Anthem and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League losing popularity, Tom Clancy’s The Division continues to thrive, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, Massive Entertainment is introducing a new Realism Mode to The Division 2 for a limited time in March.
During Japan’s FPSDay Celebration, creative director Yannick Banchereau revealed a new mode for owners of the Warlords of New York expansion. He explained it will feature fast-paced combat with quicker takedowns and weapon damage that reflects the size of the bullets used. To create a *Ghost Reconstyle experience, the mode also includes longer skill cooldowns, less ammunition, a simplified heads-up display, and no automatic health recovery.
Unfortunately, players will need to start a new character. Game designer Raul-Sebastian Birnoshi explained that much of the traditional loot and leveling system has been removed. This creates a very different experience, which the developers describe as “raw and unforgiving.” They believe “Realism Mode” will let players experience The Division 2 in a completely new way.
If you’re not looking to start a new character or have already purchased Warlords of New York, there’s a new Anniversary Pass coming soon with cosmetic items from Rainbow Six Siege, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon. It will have both free and paid options, but the price hasn’t been revealed yet.
You can play Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and it also works with the newer Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles. For those wanting to replay the original The Division, a recent update for PS5 improves performance to 60 frames per second, especially with the upcoming Definitive Edition.
