It’s quite logical for the filmmaker to allow the lead singer of Tenacious D, who happens to be Jack Black, to compose and perform a few songs of his own when he’s one of the main actors in your movie.
It’s clear that the idea for a Minecraft movie was something that director Jared Hess, who last worked with Nickelodeon on Nacho Libre back in 2006, had been keen to revisit since then.
Among Black’s tunes, a track titled “I Feel Alive” has been released early for fans to enjoy before the movie premieres, and there are more catchy numbers to anticipate throughout the film – ranging from a lively number called “Steve’s Lava Chicken” to a duet with co-star Jason Momoa.
Besides Black, another cast member, Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords, has written original songs for the film as well. One song that McKenzie himself sings, while another is performed by BENEE.
