2026 promises to be an exciting year for Godzilla fans! We’ll see the return of the Monarch series with its second season, plus the release of the highly awaited Godzilla Minus Zero later in the year. And that’s not all – a new Godzilla video game is coming out early in the year, boasting an incredible roster of 15 playable characters from across the franchise.
The latest game, called Godzilla: Reign of Kaiju, is joining the UniVersus family. While there have been Godzilla cards before, this release offers a complete booster set with 15 characters from throughout Godzilla’s history – including favorites from classic films, more recent installments, and popular fan choices. You won’t have to wait long to play – it launches on March 13th!
Everything We Know About Godzilla: Reign of Kaiju
Okay, so details are still pretty hush-hush about the Godzilla: Reign of Kaiju set, but we’re starting to get a peek! Right now, the only new character confirmed is Shin Godzilla, and let me tell you, he looks powerful. GreenWitEVIL showed us a preview, and along with Shin, we got a look at some new cards. There’s an attack called ‘Wrecking The City’ using art from the Rulers of Earth series, and two Foundation cards: ‘Destructive Tendencies’ and ‘The Wrath of Godzilla’. They also showed off the Power Token, which looks pretty cool.
Beyond the new cards themselves, the set will include innovative attacks and foundational card designs drawing inspiration from elements like beams, wings, and armor. Players can also look forward to reimagined versions of classic monsters like Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, plus alternate artwork for the characters you can play.
Okay, so the next update is looking awesome! We’re getting three new PvE Encounters to tackle, and a ton of new cards – every symbol is covered, including Infinity! But the coolest part? They’re introducing Token Cards! These let you actually store Power Tokens right on your stage, so you can save them up and unleash a massive attack when the time is right. Plus, there are different ways to make those tokens with other cards in the set, which means we’ll have some real strategic options for building our decks.
