So, starting mid-April, if you’re a crypto exchange or a wallet provider, guess what? You’ve got to be MiCA-compliant to even think about advertising on Google in the EU. Yeah, that’s right! Because nothing says “trustworthy” like a bunch of regulations, right? 🙄
Google’s flipping the script on its advertising policy for crypto services in the European Union. They’re saying, “Hey, if you want to advertise your crypto exchanges and software wallets, you better be licensed as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation.” Sounds fancy, doesn’t it? But really, it’s just a way for them to keep tabs on you. You know, like a nosy neighbor! 🕵️♂️
This updated policy is covering 30 countries. That’s right, 30! Including Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. So, if you thought you could just waltz in and start advertising without a care in the world, think again! You’ve got to comply with all local legal requirements, and don’t forget to get certified by Google. Because who doesn’t want a stamp of approval from the tech giant? It’s like getting a gold star in kindergarten! ⭐️
Now, some countries are getting a little grace period where existing licenses will still be valid. In Finland, France, and Germany, for example, Google will accept those country-based licenses for a while. But don’t get too comfy! The transition periods are different for each country. Finland gets until June 30, while Germany has until December 30. After that? Only MiCA licenses will do! Talk about a ticking clock! ⏰
And just to keep things spicy, Google promises to give advertisers a little heads-up before they start cracking down on any violations. Because nothing says “we care” like a warning before the hammer drops! 😂
