◆ Substories

A Star’s Debut at Stardust

Stardust, a well-loved host club, is short-staffed just when a group of visitors from Hokkaido arrives. Kiryu jumps in to help, unexpectedly becoming a host himself under the name Kazzy-chan! He gets dressed up, makes conversation, and uses his unique style to entertain the customers.

Keep at It, Parents!

Kiryu found an inappropriate magazine on the beach and, wanting to protect the children at the orphanage, buried it in the yard. Unfortunately, the orphanage dog, Mame, dug it up and ran off with it! Now it’s your job to catch Mame and prevent any trouble.

◆ LaLaLa Loveland

Make LaLaLa Friends through the red thread of fate transmission!

Kiryu’s phone is ancient and on the verge of falling apart. When he upgrades, Lala Aizawa, the CEO of LaLaLa Mobile, introduces him to LaLaLa Loveland, a new social media platform. It lets Kiryu connect with other flip phone users – the app calls it a ‘red thread of fate’ connection – add them as friends, and slowly reveal more about each other’s profiles.

Red Thread of Fate Transmission

Besides connecting with your LaLaLa Friends, the Red Thread of Fate feature lets you find and open Loveboxes throughout the city for various rewards. Keep an eye out while exploring Downtown Ryukyu and Kamurocho – you’ll find them in all sorts of places, like on delivery trucks or even with people you pass on the street!

◆ Cell Phone Customization

Customize Kiryu’s flip phone with different straps, antennas, and lock screens! Each part not only changes the look, but also gives Kiryu a unique ability boost, letting you create tons of powerful combinations. You can also decorate it with rhinestones and stickers to really make it your own!

◆ Karaoke

Sing your heart out to classics and new tunes!

In Yakuza Kiwami 3, Kiryu can sing two new songs, as well as classic favorites, at karaoke. You can even have characters like Haruka, Majima, and Akko-san join him for a duet!

“Pararirai: Happiness Blooms”

Ryosuke Horii wanted to create a song with an Okinawan feel that Kazuma Kiryu could sing with the children of Morning Glory. He made the lyrics easy to learn so everyone could join in, and they reflect his hope for a peaceful world. He encourages listeners to check it out, and believes the music video is so impactful it could become a karaoke classic. He hopes everyone enjoys it!

“Kamurocho Rhapsody”

As a long-time fan, I’ve always loved the music in the Yakuza series, especially the tracks that really capture the feel of Kamurocho. I usually write a lot of those emotional ballads, but this time I wanted to switch things up and go for a more rock-driven sound. I think it really fits the vibe of Kamurocho – it’s a dangerous place, but it’s also full of heart. And for those who’ve followed Kiryu’s story, the music video is packed with flashbacks you won’t want to miss!

◆ Outfits

Pick out styles perfect for Downtown Ryukyu and Kamurocho!

In Yakuza Kiwami 3, you can customize Kazuma Kiryu’s appearance with different outfits for each location. Dress him down in beachwear like sandals and a kariyushi shirt while exploring the tropical Downtown Ryukyu, or give him a stylish look for the vibrant nightlife of Kamurocho!

◆ Reapers

Take out dangerous opponents bent on revenge against the Tojo Clan!

The Reapers are a dangerous group of ex-Tojo Clan members who were kicked out for their terrible behavior and have been seeking revenge ever since. Kiryu, asked by his old friend Kashiwagi, is tasked with bringing them in.

It’ll be your job to find out where they’re lurking.

By giving them the smackdown, you’ll be compensated generously in cash and valuable rewards!

■ Dark Ties

◆ Kanda’s Damage Control

Good Deed Quests

Mine needs to investigate strange occurrences in town, following plans developed by Zenba, one of Kanda’s team members. Each investigation will uncover various stories, many of which are heartbreaking.

Witness the normally cool Mine tackle the people of Kamurocho’s troubles head-on.

To Catch a Serial Killer

A young man asks the Nishikiyama Family for help finding the Kamuro Killer, a serial killer terrorizing Kamurocho and responsible for his sister’s death. As he investigates, he becomes increasingly consumed by a quest for revenge.

Public Intoxication Awareness Campaign

A fun get-together for movie and gaming fans quickly spirals out of control after everyone has a little too much to drink. When Mine shows up, he’s surprised to find the party filled with people dressed as pirates and fake yakuza members. He’s determined to show these partygoers that their reckless fun needs to stop.

Helping the Little People

Improve Kanda’s reputation by completing missions to help people in need. Whether it’s protecting someone from bullies or helping a citizen with a simple problem like a never-ending sneeze, go out and assist the town’s residents!

Damage Control Challenge

You can improve Kanda’s reputation by completing Damage Control Challenge missions. These missions include everything from defeating street thugs to succeeding in various minigames.

Charisma Rank

So, Kanda starts out with a really bad rep – everyone thinks he’s totally useless, honestly. But if you put in the work with him, you can actually level him up to become unbelievably powerful, like a god-tier character. It’s pretty cool because it’s not just about stats, it feels like his personality actually changes as he gets stronger. It’s a satisfying progression!

◆ Karaoke

Witness the fiery vocals of the usually stoic Mine!

Looking for some fun in Dark Ties? Check out Mine’s karaoke! He’s a fantastic performer, and his rendition of “Baka Mitai” is a real crowd-pleaser. Need a duet partner? Kanda is always up for singing backup!

“Baka Mitai”

Ryosuke Horii always envisioned his character, Mine, performing karaoke. He took a chance and asked Mine’s voice actor, Shido Nakamura, if he’d be up for it, and was thrilled when Nakamura agreed. Nakamura really embraced the performance during the recording session, and they recorded several takes, even adding some improvised lines. Horii hopes players can feel that excitement in the final song.

◆ Play Spots

As a huge Yakuza fan, I’m so excited to be back in Kamurocho with Yakuza Kiwami 3! They’ve brought back all the minigames we love, like bowling and the Print Club. But the coolest part? They’ve actually included a playable Game Gear! Seriously, you can play classic games within the game. And the arcade is packed with stuff to do – UFO catchers, that hilarious Emergency Call Ambulance game, and SlashOut! It’s a total blast!

Players will also be able to enjoy Game Gear versions of classic games like PAC-MAN, MAPPY, and GALAGA ’91, thanks to a partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will be released on February 12th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (through Steam).
