SlashOut, a fast-paced action game and the spiritual successor to Toshihiro Nagoshi’s SpikeOut (recently featured in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii), is coming as a fully playable minigame in both Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties.
The game will include the already revealed Emergency Call Ambulance, and SEGA promises a wide variety of other vehicles and machines will be available.
SpikeOut featured fighting in urban settings, but SlashOut reimagined that same fighting style within a medieval fantasy world. Now, players battle with weapons against creatures from mythology. Despite the new setting, the basic gameplay still feels quite similar to SpikeOut.
The new version of the game will let players use a Game Gear, complete with fully playable games like Sonic Chaos. Bandai Namco is also including classic Game Gear versions of Pac-Man, Mappy, and Galaga ’91.
Plus, there are tons of other fun minigames like karaoke—now with even more songs—pool, and darts.
Plus, Kiryu will have a new flip-phone from that era, and players can customize it with rhinestones and stickers.
The phone in the game has an app that lets you connect with people in Kamurocho and Okinawa by sending them a signal. You can also find and open special boxes called ‘Loveboxes’ which give you helpful items and rewards.
The game will include new side stories, one featuring Kiryu unexpectedly playing the role of a host called Kazzy-chan, and another centered around a dog finding a scandalous magazine.
The game looks like a lot of fast-paced fun and will be released very soon, on February 12th.
