Chris Evans’ SHOCKING Reaction to Captain America 4’s Brutal Reviews

Previously known as Steve Rogers on screen, Chris Evans reached out to his pal, Anthony Mackie, who stars as Captain America in “Brave New World,” following the movie’s release at cinemas.

In the Captain America movie franchise’s fourth installment, unfavorable critic assessments led to a lower-than-expected Rotten Tomatoes rating of 48%, for the film titled Brave New World.

In other words, it’s not just about the negative comments and harsh criticisms online regarding a sequel in which a Black actor replaced a white one (in this case, Captain America 4), as the screenwriter Rob Thomas has humorously dismissed these specific criticisms as irrelevant.

Chris Evans Sent Kind Text to Anthony Mackie Regarding Captain America 4

At a press event for his latest movie, “Sneaks,” Anthony Mackie took a moment to discuss another ongoing project – portraying Sam Wilson in the upcoming film titled “Captain America: Brave New World.

During an interview, it was disclosed that when asked if Mackie had received communication from Chris Evans, the initial Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he shared that Evans sent a brief message containing a compliment and a summary of “Brave New World” to him.

I haven’t had a conversation with him, but I did receive a text message from him saying “good job,” and he enjoyed the movie.

Mackie went on to clarify that due to their hectic routines, they haven’t had the opportunity for an extended discussion on the topic of Captain America 4 : a chat that remains pending.

I haven’t had a chance to speak with him as we’ve both been busy and he’s currently traveling through Europe for work.

Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans have a strong bond. They were longtime friends even before they started working together in the 2011 romantic comedy “What’s Your Number?” However, it was their comical rhythm and immediate chemistry in the 2014 film “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” that not only catapulted their characters, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, to fame.

2022 saw Evans expressing that no actor could be more fitting for the role of Captain America, following his retirement as Steve, in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” than Anthony Mackie.

Brave New World” was mixed and it didn’t manage to stir significant change, or shift unmovable opinions, much like adamantium mountains. The movie sparked a polarized reaction from its viewers, and online critics also voiced their disapproval, focusing on aspects such as the portrayal of Captain America’s skin color.

Rob Thomas, who is among the six writers for “Captain America 4”, expressed his sentiments in a more relaxed manner, expressing that he appreciated it and had watched it multiple times in the theater.

After receiving the feedback from the audience, everyone I encountered expressed enthusiasm similar to this: “I not only enjoyed it myself, but I also invited my family to see it the following week. In fact, I’ve watched it multiple times.

Brave New World” is surprisingly layered. Even as an ardent cinephile like myself, Chris Evans seems to share this sentiment.

Evans Looks Out for Mackie

Anthony Mackie didn’t provide specific details about when Chris Evans sent his text, so it’s unclear if Evans was comforting the star of “Brave New World” amid the relatively low box office earnings of their Marvel film after its release on Valentine’s Day.

There’s a chance that Evans might have been attempting to encourage his friend and fellow actor, who was undergoing intense online criticism and negative reviews about their project. Yet, it seems like Chris Evans seldom, if ever, engages with social media.

The Instagram account officially managed by the performer now solely contains sponsored content that he must keep posted due to contractual agreements. It seems unlikely that Chris Evans regularly uses the internet or actively searches for negative comments about people connected to him.

From my perspective, it appears that Evans was probably eager to shoot a quick message to his pal, sharing his enthusiasm for the freshly released film and how much he enjoyed it.

As a movie buff, I can’t help but get excited about the possibility of seeing Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) sharing the screen again in the MCU. According to recent rumors, both are set to return for the 2026 blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday.

In the upcoming movie “Doomsday,” Anthony Mackie will don the Captain America suit once again. However, whispers online hint that Chris Evans may be stepping into a darker role for Marvel, which might surprise fans as they are not accustomed to seeing him play such sinister characters (for more on how Steve Rogers could turn to the wrong side, take a look here).
