Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties – LaLaLa Loveland, New Substories and Karaoke Songs Detailed

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have shared new details about the highly anticipated Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Like a Dragon, specifically highlighting the game’s side content. According to Gematsu, players can expect features like the return of LaLaLa Loveland, along with customization options for their phones and a wider selection of outfits for their characters.

A brand new side story is coming to Yakuza Kiwami 3 where Kiryu temporarily works as a host at the Stardust club. Due to a staff shortage, Kiryu, going by the name “Kazzy-chan,” will learn how to be a host – including picking out outfits and charming customers – to help out.

The game will feature new side stories set both in and around the Morning Glory Orphanage in Okinawa, and in Kamurocho, the main location of Yakuza Kiwami 3.

In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Kiryu can make friends using a new social platform called LaLaLa Loveland. It starts when he gets a new phone and meets Lala Aizawa, the CEO of LaLaLa Mobile, who asks him to test it out. The platform lets Kiryu connect with other phone users in a way that’s been described as finding a connection, similar to how Aloha Links worked in the previous game. Though the game is set in 2009, LaLaLa Loveland functions much like the more recent Aloha Links system.

A special part of LaLaLa Loveland is the chance to unlock “Loveboxes” filled with prizes by using the “Red Thread of Fate” system. These boxes will be hidden in various places around the world – you might find one on a truck, or even attached to someone’s back!

I’m really excited about how much you can personalize this new phone! It’s not just about cases – you can add charms and even decorate it with stickers and rhinestones. But the rhinestone thing is seriously cool; it’s like they built in a little drawing app just for bedazzling your phone! I can’t wait to try it out.

If you enjoy the Yakuza games, you’ll be happy to hear that Yakuza Kiwami 3 will include some new karaoke tracks alongside fan favorites. The new songs are titled “Pararirai: Happiness Blooms” and “Kamurocho Rhapsody.” Composer Ryosuke Horii says “Pararirai: Happiness Blooms” is designed to be a simple, heartwarming song Kiryu can sing with the children at the orphanage.

Regarding the second song, Horii explained he aimed for a rock ‘n’ roll style, moving away from the traditional ballads that previously highlighted Kamurocho’s story. He wants this track to capture the feeling of both excitement and emotion that Kamurocho is famous for.

While exploring the city, Kiryu will encounter a new type of enemy called Reapers. These are former members of the Tojo Clan seeking revenge after being kicked out for bad behavior. At Kashiwagi’s request, Kiryu starts tracking them down and capturing them. Defeating these Reapers will earn you valuable rewards.

In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed more about the ‘Good Deed’ quests. These will involve Mine investigating problems around Yokohama to improve the public’s view of Kanda. Examples include tracking down a serial killer called the Kamuro Killer, breaking up a chaotic group of cosplayers and fake yakuza, and completing smaller tasks. Completing these quests contributes to the ‘Kanda Damage Control’ system, which was previously explained in November.

Players will also be able to sing along with karaoke, including the popular song “Baka Mitai.” Both Kiryu and Mine can now play classic Sega games on a Sega Game Gear handheld, featuring titles like Galaga ’91 and Pac-Man, thanks to a partnership with Bandai Namco.

On February 11th, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its story expansion, Dark Ties, will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
