Harry Styles is putting out some new music for a sushi restaurant—or music for whenever you want. 

Following a three-year break after his successful Love On Tour, former One Direction member Harry Styles has announced his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally, which will be released on March 6th.

Along with the news, the 31-year-old artist revealed the album cover. It shows him outside, wearing jeans and a blue t-shirt, and putting on sunglasses. Above him hangs a disco ball lit by a studio light, referencing the album’s title. The album title appears to the right of the image, written in blue and pink against a black background – a color scheme similar to his previous album, Fine Line.

Harry Styles officially announced his tour is ending soon, just weeks after posting a mysterious video online. The video showed fans gathering outside a concert venue in Italy, sparking speculation about what the final show might hold.

The day before the official announcement, Harry’s team shared a short audio clip with members of his online community. The clip featured Harry singing an a cappella version of “We Belong Together.”

After keeping a relatively quiet life for several years, Harry Styles is back in the music scene. While he recently confirmed a relationship with Zoe Kravitz through several public appearances in September, he’s largely stayed out of the spotlight.

Over the past year, Harry Styles has been quietly pursuing some unexpected hobbies, much to the delight of his fans. He unexpectedly ran both the Tokyo and Berlin Marathons, appearing at the Tokyo race in March and the Berlin race in September. He also made a surprising visit to Vatican City in May to witness the election of Pope Leo XIV.

Harry Styles was born on February 1st, 1994, in Evesham, Worcestershire, to Anne Cox and Desmond Styles. He grew up with an older sister, Gemma, who was born in 1990.

Oh my gosh, can you believe it? He grew up in the sweetest little place, Holmes Chapel in Cheshire! And his very first word? It was ‘cat’! I mean, how adorable is that? It just proves he was always destined for greatness, a little animal lover from the very beginning. I’ve read everything about his life, and that detail just gets me!

Styles described his hometown, a village of around 5,000 residents, as both “quite boring” and “picturesque.”

In his memoir, Dare to Dream, Harry remembered being unusually upset—he rarely cried—when his parents told him and his sister, Gemma, that they were getting divorced. He was seven years old at the time.

He admitted he hadn’t fully understood the situation at the time, but he was simply upset about his parents’ separation.

Des and Anne remained together for two more years before Des moved out. Then, Anne relocated with Harry and Gemma to Northwich, a rural area in Cheshire. Later, when Harry was a teenager, they returned to live in Holmes Chapel.

Anne and Robin Twist got married in 2013 after being a couple for more than ten years. Their son, Harry, proudly walked his mother down the aisle and served as best man at the wedding.

Everyone who knew him said Harry was a lively, imaginative kid who loved being the center of attention. He was a natural performer, always happy to sing or even pull playful pranks. He thrived in school plays, and listening to classic rock with his dad – artists like Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Queen – really influenced the music he enjoyed.

In her 2013 biography, Harry Styles—Every Piece of Me, Louisa Jepson writes that Harry’s first recording was of Elvis Presley’s “The Girl of My Best Friend,” made on a karaoke machine his grandfather gave him. As he grew up, he also became a fan of bands like Coldplay, and artists such as John Mayer and Noel Gallagher.

Harry started playing music in a band around age 14, originally hoping to play bass. However, another member already filled that role, so he became the singer instead. The band, called White Eskimo, won their school’s Battle of the Bands, earning a £100 prize and their first paid performance – playing at a wedding.

Anne told Now magazine in 2010 that her son has always been confident. She said he’s been making people happy since childhood and that she always believed he’d become a performer.

Harry earned a little extra scratch—£6 an hour—working at W. Mandeville bakery on Saturdays. 

According to his former boss, Simon Wakefield, he was the politest employee they ever had. Wakefield told the Mirror in 2013, when Styles came back to film scenes for the movie One Direction: This Is Us, that customers really liked him.

Mr. Wakefield explained that the shop became very popular with young girls when Harry worked there – sometimes as many as twelve would come in at once. Even today, groups of around twenty girls occasionally visit and take pictures of the store. Harry was a dedicated employee, responsible for everything from serving customers and cleaning the back room to scrubbing floors, washing trays, and keeping the counter tidy.

Anne was the one who ended up sending Harry’s X Factor application in when he got cold feet.

Oh my gosh, even back then, at just sixteen, he knew he could sing! He actually said people told him he was good – mostly his mum, which is adorable, honestly. I remember watching his X Factor audition – spring of 2010, can you believe it’s been that long?! – and he sang “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder… a cappella! It was just… wow. He explained that singing was everything to him, and if the people who could help him achieve his dreams didn’t believe in him, it would be devastating. You could just feel his passion, even then. He was born to do this, I swear!

Harry didn’t advance to the final or even the second-to-last round for the boys, but the show’s producers liked him enough to keep him around.

Simon Cowell and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger (who was standing in for Cheryl Cole) decided to put Harry together with other hopeful solo singers: Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson. This ultimately led to the formation of a group.

Okay, so I don’t want to brag, but I totally helped create the magic of One Direction! I mean, I don’t always get the credit, but I knew they were special from the start, that perfect combination of everything. It’s all in the documentary, One Direction: Going Our Way. And poor Louis Walsh? He just didn’t get Harry, which is honestly kind of shocking when you look at how huge they became!

It was Harry, however, who came up with the group’s name.

He remembered thinking the name sounded good when they were brainstorming. They tossed around a few ideas, but he couldn’t quite recall how it ended up being the final choice. He simply suggested it, and everyone agreed, so it stuck.

Zayn explained on Hot 97.5 FM in 2012 that the band initially brainstormed a ton of potential names. Harry suggested the eventual name via text, and the others immediately liked it. Apparently, Liam also had some pretty awkward ideas. Zayn also remembered another suggestion – USP, which stood for Unique Selling Point.

In October 2010, One Direction hit the X Factor stage live for the first time.

When Harry went to the X Factor house, I told him, ‘Stay yourself, Harry, and don’t become arrogant. Remember, you’ll still have chores to do when you get back home, like emptying the dishwasher.’

Oh my god, you won’t BELIEVE what Harry went through! Like, he was born to perform, it’s what he was meant to do, but as soon as those live shows started, he’d get these terrible panic attacks before going on stage. Alice Montgomery wrote about it in her book, Harry, and it broke my heart! Apparently, one time he actually threw up in the hallway! Can you imagine?! Eventually, he figured out that drinking sparkling mineral water and doing breathing exercises helped calm him down enough to go out there and, you know, be Harry. It’s just…amazing how he pushed through it all.

Despite their later success, One Direction didn’t win The X Factor in 2010. They finished in third place, with Matt Cardle winning the seventh series and Rebecca Ferguson coming in second.

Harry recalled enjoying friendships with both girls and boys during his primary school years, as biographer Louisa Jepson noted. He wasn’t like some boys who disliked or avoided girls, and generally got along with everyone.

According to his White Eskimo bandmate, Will Sweeny, Harry Styles was surprisingly popular with girls even when he was very young. Sweeny told the Daily Star that Harry had several girlfriends starting around age ten, and always seemed to have a natural charm that attracted them. He described it as amusing and said Harry had a way with girls throughout his life.

Louis Tomlinson jokingly complained to The Sun that the biggest issue with living with Harry Styles was the endless parade of women coming and going. He said it was “relentless.” Of course, Louis was dating Eleanor Calder at the time, so he was likely teasing Harry a bit.

Let me tell you, as someone who’s seen a lot of relationships, Jepson’s dad, Desmond, put it best: when my son truly falls for someone, he’s completely devoted. He’s all in, a one-woman man, through and through. It’s really reassuring to know that when he cares, he really cares.

Harry has always prioritized safety, especially when it comes to intimacy. He shared with OK! magazine in 2012 that he was worried about getting someone pregnant the first time he had sex, even though they had taken precautions. Thankfully, everything was okay, and he believes it’s irresponsible to assume things will work out without proper care.

Following One Direction’s win on The X Factor in 2011, Harry Styles publicly expressed interest in both 22-year-old Frankie Bridge from The Saturdays and Caroline Flack, who was 31 and hosted The Xtra Factor, the X Factor spin-off show.

Harry and Caroline first met in October 2011 at an after-party for a show at London’s W Hotel, and they left together. However, according to Alice Montgomery, nothing significant happened between them that night.

In her 2015 memoir, Storm in a C Cup, Caroline Flack described how she and her partner initially connected well, enjoying each other’s company as two single people. Despite claims that she and Harry Styles were just friends, fans of the band One Direction strongly expressed their possessiveness over him. Harry told Seventeen magazine that summer that Taylor Swift was incredibly talented and a genuinely sweet person.

Their romance wasn’t expected to last, but Taylor was at One Direction’s first concert at Madison Square Garden that December – a show where Harry was playfully showered with bras, underwear, and even an iPhone. For a brief, exciting period, they were the biggest pop couple around, going on a public date in Central Park, a quick trip to Harry’s hometown of Northwich, and ultimately a disastrous Caribbean vacation that left Taylor feeling isolated.

In January 2014, a source told TopMob News that Harry and Kendall Jenner seemed to be enjoying each other’s company after they were seen together in Mammoth Lakes. Kendall herself described Harry as a “cool” friend at the American Music Awards the previous November.

Harry Styles clarified on the Australian show Sunrise that a photo of him and Louis Tomlinson appearing to kiss was altered. He pointed out that the original picture, which he saw in a magazine, actually included another woman in the frame.

Louis explained that this had happened to him and Niall too. He described how, when someone is being targeted, the focus is simply shifted away from them – a surprisingly effective tactic.

Harry was the one who brought up the idea of One Direction taking a break back in 2014, while they were recording in a London studio – it felt a lot like the Beatles’ creative process at the time.

That being said, the game was on when it came to figuring out what, or who, he was singing about.

Harry explained that he deliberately keeps his personal and professional lives separate. He believes this helps him maintain balance and stay grounded. He isn’t trying to create a persona or prolong his career; he simply wants to return to feeling like his authentic self when he’s not working. He values being able to fully disconnect and enjoy both sides of his life, and finds the shift between them incredibly rewarding.

The songwriter explained to Rolling Stone that the song is told from the perspective of a mother experiencing a difficult childbirth. She’s told her baby will be okay, but she won’t survive, and she has just five minutes to offer her child a final message of encouragement – to go out and live a full life.

Harry Styles is known for his great hair, no matter how he styles it. Back in 2017, British Vogue took a close look at his dressing table before a Paris concert and discovered he used seven different hair products, along with Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille fragrance, a Diptyque candle, and Sunday Riley face oil.

Vogue beauty editor Lisa Niven jokingly observed that Harry has the meticulous self-care routine of a professional beauty editor, praising his choice of Ouai hair products and especially the Sunday Riley oil. She added with a smile, ‘Who wouldn’t request a Diptyque candle when making requests for a performance or appearance?’

Harry balanced pursuing his music with acting, and in July 2017, he appeared in his first movie, Christopher Nolan’s epic war film Dunkirk. The film was a critical success, receiving eight Academy Award nominations and winning three.

When asked if it was more nerve-wracking to audition for Christopher Nolan or Simon Cowell, Harry Styles, appearing on ITV’s This Morning, said it was likely Nolan. He explained that Nolan is very reserved—he doesn’t offer any feedback during auditions, simply sitting silently in the back of the room. Styles admitted that walking onto the set of a big-budget war epic was a bit intimidating at first.

He told The Big Issue that he was immediately struck by how large the production was. “You’re on set the first day and it’s just overwhelming,” he said. It was also a physically demanding first film, as he had to learn to manage being on set with water.

One particularly intense scene involved Harry Styles’ character, Alex, nearly drowning. Styles told USA Today that filming the scene was genuinely frightening, as he was acutely aware of his limited breath-hold. He recalled being asked about his swimming ability the day before filming began in France, and realizing the role would require a lot of time in the water – to the point where he joked they seemed to be testing how long it would take for him to actually drown.

And…he’s funny, too. 

In 2017, Harry Styles was everywhere promoting his music, but he also proved he could host The Late, Late Show when James Corden was unavailable – he even mastered American-style political comedy! He did it again in 2019. Interestingly, years earlier while looking for a house in Hampstead Heath, Harry lived with Late, Late Show executive producer Ben Winston and his wife, Meredith, for nearly two years, sleeping on a mattress in their attic.

He was away a lot, being a major pop star, but still.

Oh my god, can you believe Harry used to be so intimidated by Meredith that he wouldn’t even bring anyone home? But Winston let slip the most amazing thing! Apparently, Harry wasn’t always alone. It was just… thrilling to see all these incredible celebrities showing up and even sleeping in the attic! And he’d just hang out with them, totally normal, like he hadn’t just performed for 80,000 people three nights straight in Rio! He never even talked shop, can you imagine? It was like he was a completely different person, just… Harry, being effortlessly cool.

In 2017, while performing as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live with host Jimmy Fallon, Harry Styles playfully impersonated Mick Jagger. Then, in July 2018, during an appearance on The Tonight Show, he jokingly told Fallon he’d like to host the show. Fallon pretended to faint, and Harry playfully took the host’s seat.

Styles returned to SNL as host and musical guest in 2019 and crushed it.

CBS’s show Happy Together, which marked Harry Styles’ debut as an executive producer on American television, wasn’t renewed after its first season of 13 episodes.

After wrapping up his first solo tour in July 2018 – which included 89 shows and sold nearly 1 million tickets – over $1.2 million was donated to charities. This money came from a share of the tour’s profits, as well as contributions from Live Nation and the GLSEN PRIDE campaign.

Harry Styles’ career soared after he won his first Grammy in 2021 for his song “Watermelon Sugar,” earning him the Best Pop Solo Performance award.
