Supporters of , following his performance in Bosch: Legacy, anticipated a new show to emerge, as CBS was planning a spin-off of another hit crime drama, The Equalizer. However, with a flurry of cancellations at the network, it appears that this new series won’t be materializing, despite Hudson Reed (Welliver’s character) appearing in a backdoor pilot on the current show airing over the weekend.
In the spinoff, Welliver’s character Reed would be teamed up with Juani Feliz as Samantha Reed, Hudson’s daughter. Welliver’s persona is that of a retired elite CIA agent harboring a hidden past, who shares a connection with Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) through an old mentor. Samantha Reed, on the other hand, was trained by her father to be proficient in weaponry, martial arts, and adept at blending into any environment, while also concealing a mysterious past.
Despite Season 6 of “The Equalizer” possibly proceeding and Anthony Michael Hall being a major attraction on Prime Video as Harry Bosch in “Bosch: Legacy”, it appears that this isn’t sufficient for CBS to establish “The Equalizer” as its own universe. The spinoff was initially announced in November, shortly after the first three seasons of the main show became available on Netflix. Hall was rumored to be involved in January, but since then, there has been no further news about the spin-off series. It seems that, similar to other CBS shows, things have not progressed as expected.
