Michelle Obama Reveals Why She Shockingly Skipped Trump’s Inauguration—The Real Story Inside!

For Michelle Obama, learning to say “no” has been a pivotal piece of her new chapter.

In truth, the previous First Lady of the United States has openly discussed her personal changes since the conclusion of her husband Barack Obama‘s second term and their departure from the White House. A significant aspect of this transformation involves making choices that suit her personally, which is why Michelle was conspicuously absent at President Donald Trump‘s inauguration in January.

In an episode of their podcast “IMO With Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson” on April 23rd, Michelle explained her choice not to attend the inauguration, or rather, her decisions at the start of the year that suited her personally. She found herself subjected to mockery and criticism for these choices. People seemed shocked that she would decline for any reason other than marital problems, leading them to speculate about potential troubles in her marriage.

Indeed, although Michelle’s absence sparked divorce rumors, which she swiftly denied, she once more emphasized that her decision was entirely self-made and self-determined.

Although people were talking about divorce because of Michelle’s absence, she made it clear that her choice was all hers to make.

She mentioned, “I’m genuinely taking charge of my life and consciously choosing what feels best for me. It required all my strength to resist doing what others might consider ‘right,’ and instead, I chose to do what felt right for me.

However, despite the author’s conviction about her choice, it was by no means an effortless one. In truth, she confessed that she had to devise a sort of self-deception to prevent herself from changing her mind.

She said, “It all began when I found myself without an appropriate outfit,” she explained. “Since I’m always anticipating the need for funeral attire or any unexpected event, I usually keep a suitable dress handy and travel with extra clothes. So, I thought to myself, if I’m not attending this particular occasion, I should inform my team, even though I don’t want to have a dress prepared for it.

Michelle, who is the mother of Malia Obama, aged 26, and Sasha Obama, aged 23, both daughters of the 44th President of the U.S.—also discussed in depth the introspective journey she’s been on since leaving the White House, and why focusing on her own well-being has become crucial.

As I find myself at this pivotal juncture, I’m seizing the opportunity to chart my own course and write my life’s story as I see fit. It’s a fascinating exploration of self-discovery, prompted by the profound experiences of those eight transformative years spent in the White House. I can’t help but wonder: how did that journey impact me on a deeper level, resonating within the very core of my being?

She went on saying, “We managed to survive. We emerged safely. I hope we’ve brought honor to our country. Thank goodness, my daughters are unscathed. However, what befell me?

Michelle shared that by attending therapy to tackle certain questions, she’s simultaneously learning to undo some self-reinforcing thoughts she’s held onto for a while.

She explained, “Therapy helps me recognize that perhaps, for the first time, I’m worthy. I’m learning to actively adopt new behaviors to change the thought patterns in my brain that drive me to constantly work harder. This includes deliberately saying ‘no’ in a new, intentional way.
