Resident Evil Requiem Features Casual Mode and the Return of Ink Ribbons in Classic Mode

Whether you prefer fast-paced zombie battles like Leon or a stealthier approach with Grace, Resident Evil Requiem aims to be a truly gripping game. But don’t worry if it feels too challenging – a Casual Mode will be available from the start for players who want a less intense experience, especially those new to survival horror.

The game offers a more laid-back experience with help aiming for headshots, making it easier to play. If you prefer a greater challenge, the Standard mode provides a balanced mix of tension and reward, similar in difficulty to recent Resident Evil titles.

For players who prefer a traditional experience, there’s the Standard (Classic) mode. It’s designed to be as challenging as the original Resident Evil games and brings back ink ribbons. However, it doesn’t completely remove the auto-save feature; it just limits how often the game automatically saves for Grace.

It doesn’t look like Leon will actually use the vehicles in the game. While Capcom hasn’t said if you’ll be able to drive them or if the levels will be more open, the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, hinted that Elpis is a central element to the story, and that Leon has a hidden connection to it. The zombies are more realistic than ever, including a frightening butcher enemy, but there are still mutated creatures, like a massive monster that chases Grace.

Resident Evil Requiem arrives on February 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom has stated there won’t be a demo, as their priority is completing the game, but they assure fans that more details will be revealed before launch.
