25 years after its original release as an exclusive PlayStation RPG, the classic Capcom title has made a surprise comeback on GOG (Good Old Games), primarily for PC users. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 and 5 gamers will have to wait, if at all, for a potential console release. For those yearning to revisit the 2000 RPG, they can now purchase and download it from GOG for $9.99. Previously, obtaining the game required owning a physical PC or PS1 disc, making it somewhat difficult to access.
The game under discussion is Breath of Fire IV, initially launched by Capcom back in 2000.
Regarding the latest version, it’s crucial to mention that this isn’t a brand new creation or an enhanced version, but rather a reissue of the original. This isn’t a remastered or remade edition, yet there have been some enhancements applied to it. These improvements aren’t groundbreaking, but they do introduce some user-friendly features and visual, audio, and other upgrades.
In a distant land, two magnificent continents drift apart, divided by a sprawling marshland. For millennia, there was no connection between these continents as ships couldn’t traverse the expanse. However, history was made when the first contact was established between the two powers, but it sparked conflict instead! After years of grueling battles between the mighty Fou Empire in the west and an eastern alliance, both sides depleted their strength and resources. With no other options left, the two powerful forces agreed to a truce. As a passionate admirer of this intriguing world, I can’t wait to explore the consequences of their historic encounter!
A year has passed since Princess Elena disappeared. She was wandering through towns in the east, investigating battlefields and meeting war veterans. Her path ended mysteriously in a small town close to the front line. No one knew where she was! The Eastern Alliance hesitated to send a large army to that area as it could escalate tensions and violate the truce. Therefore, a widespread search for Elena proved impossible. As time went on with no news about the princess, her sister, Princess Nina, decided to embark on a solo journey in hopes of finding Elena.
