Bandai Filmworks and Sunrise are generating excitement for their upcoming mobile game titled SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, by releasing a fresh trailer. This trailer unveils that the mobile game will offer exclusive animation for the series Gundam Seed. This animation, known as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Recollection, serves to connect the original Seed series with its sequel, Seed Destiny. The storyline of Recollection delves into a new narrative featuring the characters from Seed, providing insights into their lives prior to the events depicted in Destiny. The game breaks down Recollection into two distinct parts: the initial segment concentrates on Kira, while the subsequent part centers around Arthrun. Both main characters will operate new mechas, such as the DRAGOON Strike mobile suit.
The trailer for the “Seed Recollection” also unveiled additional scenes featuring characters from the show like Cagalli and Lacus. Arthrun is spotted wearing his signature sunglasses, a disguise used in “Seed Destiny”. The fresh content for “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Recollection” in “SD Gundam G Generation Eternal” will be available on April 30th, 2025. This game can be downloaded on mobile devices across the US via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The title belongs to the latest version of the “SD Gundam G Generation” series, which are RPG video games that adopt the chibi Gunpla visual style.
SD Gundam G Generation Eternal Continues Seed’s Legacy
In the grand expanse of the Gundam multiverse, I find myself immersed in the Cosmic Era, a time period marked by a struggle between ordinary humans, or Naturals, and genetically superior beings, the Coordinators. This era might not resonate as deeply with Western Gundam enthusiasts, but within Japan, the series known as Seed has carved out a significant place in the annals of anime popularity. The latest installment, Seed Freedom, graced Japanese theaters at the beginning of 2024 and set a new box office record for the franchise.
The success of Seed has spawned various sequels such as C.E. 73: Stargazer and Astray. Regrettably, fresh content for Seed is only being introduced within a mobile game, but fans can only hope that Bandai or Sunrise will produce an official animated version featuring the newly created game footage. The sequel, Seed Destiny, unfolds two years after the conclusion of Gundam Seed, providing the creators of SD Gundam G Generation Eternal with more time to develop their project. Originally, Seed concluded with a truce between the opposing factions, while Seed Destiny introduces a new battle, this time against a suspicious Military group.
Although Seed Destiny didn’t explicitly reveal other significant conflicts over the two years, the peace agreement between the Coordinators and humanity was consistently portrayed as tenuous. Destiny subtly suggested that both parties were constantly teetering on the brink of renewed war, which ultimately led to the central conflict in the sequel. It’s possible, though not confirmed, that there were clashes during the supposed peaceful period. Whether or not Seed Recollection will play a pivotal role in the Cosmic Era remains to be seen, but fans of C.E. will undoubtedly be eager to watch it when it premieres on April 30th.
