Currently, some formidable champions populate the DC Universe, and among the latest recruits stands out as a legend – Lois Lane. She inexplicably obtained powers equivalent to Superman’s, transforming her into Superwoman. The Superman clan has consistently been one of the strongest factions within the DC Universe; however, their strength is set to diminish following Superman #25, where it’s revealed that a hero has lost their abilities. This development will impact more than just the affected individual. Be warned, potential spoilers for Superman #25 lie ahead. If you haven’t read this issue yet, now might be the time to step aside.
In issue #25 of Superman, we immediately follow up on the disclosure of X-EL from the previous installment. X-EL symbolizes Lex Luthor’s unrestrained wickedness and violence, now embodied in a form resembling Bizarro. This means he possesses similar power levels as Superman and Superwoman. In a violent outburst, X-EL launches attacks on Superman before turning his attention to Superwoman, but ultimately, this aggressive approach is his downfall.
Don’t you find this exciting, Lois? Now that we both possess powers, I never thought they were necessary before, but I must confess, I relish the idea of challenging Superman physically,” X-EL expresses, leaning towards Superwoman. He then suggests a romantic connection, saying, “Perhaps it’s high time we put an end to our pretense and acknowledge that we are the power duo Metropolis requires?
Superwoman pushes him aside and tells Lex, “This isn’t who you are, Lex. You’ve never been this…exaggerated.” But X-EL responds with his most unsettling speech yet, saying, “You didn’t truly know me, Lois. Now you’ll see as I carry out everything I should have done long ago. There’s nothing stopping me now. After I eliminate you and your husband, I’ll track down your family.
Clearly, Superwoman responds angrily when she hears more threats, saying “Certainly not!” as her eyes flash fiercely red. X-EL continues to push her limits, taunting, “Eliminate your son,” which proves to be the last straw. With a surge of fury, Superwoman prepares for battle and shouts, “No one…threatens…my family!” The force she unleashes is immense, and it’s visible not only in the city but also from space, with X-EL being singed right in the heart of it.
Superwoman stumbles and starts to fall, only for Superman to grab her just in time. Somehow, despite being badly hurt and shattered, X-EL manages to stay on his feet. It’s then that Lex offers him a solution for repair, but X-EL refuses vehemently, calling Lex a disappointment and insisting he isn’t the genuine article.
