Although Quantic Dream hasn’t provided any recent updates on their Star Wars title, Star Wars Eclipse, there have been some emerging concept art pieces suggesting that the project could be progressing steadily behind the scenes. As reported by Mp1st, these concept artworks offer glimpses of potential characters who might assume significant roles within the game.
Among the artwork portfolio of an artist who has previously contributed to ‘Star Wars Eclipse’, there are in total 13 unique pieces. Each piece bears a filename that hints at the character type the artwork represents. The collection includes concept designs for Gungan, Zenezian, and Rodian characters. Additionally, there are some labeled as Smuggler 1 and Smuggler 2. Remarkably, two of these concept artworks carry names associated with specific characters.
In the concept art, we see two characters identified as Travis and Jotraaaz Kammzzzek. Their names, fitting with other unusual and extraterrestrial-sounding names in the Star Wars universe, suggest they will have significant roles in the storyline. Meanwhile, other characters might be non-player characters (NPCs) that players may only interact with briefly.
It’s important to mention that the artwork for a game, often referred to as concept art, is usually produced during the initial phases of its creation. As a result, these visuals may undergo several revisions because games frequently evolve significantly throughout their development process.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly following the development of Star Wars Eclipse by Quantic Dream, but lately, there hasn’t been much news about it. However, I take solace in the words of Guillaume de Fondaumière, CEO and head of publishing at Quantic Dream, who reassured us back in February that the studio was unfazed by the closures happening at other studios under NetEase. To put this into perspective, NetEase acquired Quantic Dream all the way back in 2022.
David Cage (Quantic president) and I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the fans and friends who have contacted us about Quantic Dream in the past few days. Let me clarify that our studios in Paris and Montreal are functioning smoothly. We are diligently working on our projects, with a number of job openings still available in both cities.
It appears the production of “Star Wars Eclipse” has faced some challenges. As far back as August 2024, the lead writer, Adam Williams, announced his departure from Quantic Dream. In this announcement, he shared his plans to establish a new studio on his own.
In a post, Williams shared that he is moving on from Quantic Dream after over a decade to establish a new studio alongside some exceptionally skilled designers and programmers. At the moment, we’re sworn to secrecy about what we are working on, but it’s unique, remarkable, and for now, shrouded in mystery. We will share more details soon.
It’s important to note that Star Wars Eclipse was officially unveiled as early as 2021. The team behind it has been working diligently on this project, ensuring compatibility with PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
