It’s great to see success like this: the popular arcade flight game, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, has officially sold over seven million copies worldwide since launching on January 18, 2019.
The game has been incredibly popular, selling one million copies just in the past year. Publisher Bandai Namco reported in January 2025 that total sales had reached over six million.
Since its release, the game has received several updates and additions, some of which were based on the movie Top Gun: Maverick. It’s also become available on PC and Nintendo Switch, and has frequently been offered at discounted prices on all platforms.
Although the Ace Combat series has sold 21 million copies overall, the newest game accounts for about one-third of those total sales.
This sets a great stage for the next game, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, because the series is currently more popular than ever before.
