Bandai Namco recently shared details about the world and battles in Code Vein 2, and now they’ve released a new trailer. This almost three-minute video focuses on the character Zenon Gryfgote, described as a cursed hero imprisoned for ten thousand years.
Zenon Gryfgote has a flair for the dramatic. He lures players into his special room, called the “zen chamber,” and then unexpectedly bursts into song. In his song, he explains that he’s driven to create a better future, even though the world feels bleak and happiness is fading.
The trailer showcases gameplay with Zenon after a brief snippet of his song. Playing with Zenon offers advantages like powerful, wide-range attacks and unique abilities.
Zenon Gryfgote’s design offers a fun take on the classic “dark knight” archetype. His armor is covered in elaborate details, and a digital face on his helmet allows for surprisingly expressive displays. The trailer also highlights his gentle nature by showing him summon demons that initially appear as statues. These demons then come to life and play music to accompany Zenon’s singing.
The recent trailer showed us a glimpse of a world on the brink of destruction and introduced the main enemy, the Luna Rapacis, which players will face as a Revenant Hunter. The story focuses on reinforcing a magical seal created by four heroes to stop a devastating event called the Resurgence.
The recent trailer for Code Vein 2 highlighted the importance of teamwork. Players will be able to partner with various characters they meet throughout the game. What’s more, they can even combine with their allies to gain a significant power increase, helping them defeat tougher enemies.
The highly anticipated game Code Vein 2 will launch on January 29th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Producer Keita Iizuka recently stated the new game will be roughly the same length as the original Code Vein, potentially a bit longer. Iizuka also clarified that while comparisons to Souls-like games are common, the developers prefer to describe Code Vein 2 as a “dramatic exploration action-RPG.”
According to Iizuka, a key element of the ‘Souls-like’ genre is giving players a real sense of achievement. Players explore diverse areas and overcome challenges, which allows them to improve and tackle even harder content, like dungeons and powerful enemies.
