In a recent interview with a magazine, Pugh expressed her frustration about the unreasonable expectations placed on actresses to conform to certain physical standards and maintain large social media followings. She bluntly stated that these demands are “ridiculous” and not comparable to an actress’s actual job. She also mentioned that she had a similar discussion with a friend recently, finding it absurd that red carpet appearances are even expected from individuals who aren’t models by profession.

She continued, “They excel at performing in front of such a nearby camera with that specific facial expression, and they know how swiftly to reveal the depths of their soul. This is their skillset. Their abilities don’t extend beyond this. I’m not saying they don’t have more talents, but what they’re compensated for and recognized for is this particular skill. It’s as if they are professional runway models, and their performance is evaluated alongside other runway models“.
