Cartoon Network is known for creating many popular and surprisingly deep animated series, including shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Samurai Jack. These shows skillfully combined comedy and heartfelt moments to tell memorable stories. In the realm of DC animation, one series has particularly resonated with fans and continues to be discussed, with many hoping for its return. Even years later, people are still curious about the final outcome for the superhero Tara.
The last episode of the original Teen Titans cartoon, titled “Things Change,” aired on Cartoon Network on January 16, 2006. Though the team later appeared in the movie Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans and the story Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, fans have long hoped for a return to the more dramatic style of the original series. This desire is fueled by the major cliffhanger ending of the finale, which aired twenty years ago. You can watch the final scene of the original Teen Titans below. While the characters continued in the more comedic Teen Titans Go! for several seasons, many animation fans were hoping to see the original team’s story continued with the same serious tone.

The History And Ending of Teen Titans’ Terra
Terra’s story in the DC Comics and animated Teen Titans series was filled with conflict. She possessed the ability to control earth and rock, but was secretly working against the team, having been planted as a spy by the villain Slade (also known as Deathstroke). In the Cartoon Network show, Terra appeared to die at the end of the second season, deeply affecting Beast Boy and the other Titans who were heartbroken by her betrayal and loss.
In the final episode, Beast Boy meets a girl who strongly resembles Terra, and he asks if they can put the past behind them and rejoin the team after Terra’s brave sacrifice. While the girl never confirms she is Terra, the conversation is filled with hints that she truly is. The episode concludes with her saying she has to get to class and encouraging Beast Boy to go back to his teammates.
Interestingly, Teen Titans Go brought back the character Terra, but with a much more humorous take than her original appearance. Since the show is confirmed to continue for at least another season, Cartoon Network plans to keep following the Titans in this lighter version. Fortunately, Robin and the team still exist within the DC Comics universe, though the current comic book lineup is different from what viewers of the cartoon are familiar with.
