Guardians of the Galaxy Star Will Poulter Rumored for Major DCU Hero Role

It’s possible that James Gunn is planning to recruit another actor from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series for the DC Universe. Over the weekend, speculation started on social media about Will Poulter potentially joining the DCU as Adam Strange. Poulter portrayed Adam Warlock in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, and if these reports are true, he could be set to headline a new series streaming on Max. This role doesn’t seem to be one of the previously announced projects within the DC Universe, but it does make sense that Gunn would prefer working with actors he has collaborated with in the past. So far, neither Gunn, DC Studios, nor Poulter have officially confirmed these rumors.

On Saturday, the DC fan account Gunnverse shared a rumor, supposedly from individuals privy to the talks between DC Studios and Poulter. It’s suggested that Poulter might initially appear in another DC Universe production prior to leading an Adam Strange series on HBO Max. According to sources, this upcoming show is already gathering a team of writers.

Given the extensive lineup of DC’s ongoing projects, it might be challenging to predict the likelihood of additional announcements soon. Currently, the studio has a well-defined narrative path, with six television series already scheduled. These include “Creature Commandos,” which debuted in December, “Peacemaker” Season 2, set for release on August 21st this year, and “Lanterns,” expected in early 2026. The other three shows are under active development, but there have been no significant updates for some time.

Even though anticipation continues to build, fans are thrilled about what’s in store for DC Universe as it makes its grand appearance on the big screen this summer. The highly anticipated Superman debuts on July 11th, featuring a variety of familiar heroes and villains, with whispers of hidden cameos. With such an exciting lineup, the possibilities seem endless for this franchise, hinting even at the possibility of an Adam Strange series.

Adam Strange, who debuted in 1958, is among DC Comics’ earliest characters. Initially, he was an archaeologist excavating ancient Peruvian sites when he discovered a transport device that whisked him off to a technologically-advanced world named Rann. On this alien planet, Strange familiarized himself with their cutting-edge technology, which granted him the ability to shuttle between Rann and Earth whenever the transportation was feasible.

It seems like Poulter’s journey to Alpha Centauri is not yet ready for broadcast, so until then, prepare for Superman to launch the main storyline of the DC Universe starting on July 11th.
