Among top choices for gaming mice, Razer stands out as a strong contender. However, when it comes to productivity-focused mouse options, Logitech remains the market leader.

The towering black-and-green device is encroaching upon Logitech’s domain with its latest Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition mouse. This is Razer’s inaugural foray into the vertical design format, a specific category of mice that prioritizes ergonomics and comfort over traditional designs.

I, as an observer, was quite surprised to witness Razer, relatively new to this field, creating an exceptional mouse. The heart of Razer’s premium gaming mice resides within a vertical casing, making for a formidable duo. Moreover, Razer generously offers numerous customization possibilities to enhance your personal experience.

While I wouldn’t dismiss the Logitech MX Vertical completely, I must say that the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition stands out as something truly exceptional and distinct from other products. Personally, I find myself drawn to it.

The Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition is priced at $119.99 from Razer, matching the retail price of its main rival, the Logitech MX Vertical. However, it’s worth noting that the Logitech mouse often goes on sale.

If you prefer a gaming mouse with a more horizontally ergonomic design, there’s also the standard Razer Pro Click V2, priced at $99.99 on Razer’s website. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this mouse as well, but I haven’t formed a complete review of it yet. Both mice come in black color only.

Pro Click V2 Vertical: What I like

As a tech-loving individual, I must say, it wouldn’t have been surprising if Razer had taken the easy route with their initial vertical mouse design. However, it’s evident that they didn’t just phone it in; instead, they poured time and dedication into making sure every detail was spot on.

In terms of design, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition manages to maintain its unique shape yet avoid resembling exact copies of established market leaders. It bears a resemblance to a Razer mouse but simultaneously presents itself as something distinctly different from Razer’s other offerings.

This mouse has a broad, rounded bottom adorned with 18 RGB LEDs, its vertical buttons are positioned at an angle of 71.7 degrees, it boasts a widened palm rest, and a substantial thumb indentation is found on either side, complete with two additional buttons.

This large PFTE-coated footpad allows for effortless movement, even with its substantial 150g weight (it’s quite a hefty mouse, indeed), and there’s also a storage compartment for the 2.4GHz wireless dongle when it’s not in use.

As a researcher accustomed to using traditional mice, transitioning to the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition might initially require some time to get accustomed. However, I must say that after prolonged usage, it proves to be incredibly comfortable for extended sessions. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and I particularly appreciate the textured surface designed for your thumb’s rest.

Fundamentally, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition sports many similarities to Razer’s top-tier gaming mice due to its swift, accurate, and adjustable Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor.

The impressive size and design that emphasizes comfort don’t hinder the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition from performing exceptionally well in gaming. It’s astonishingly quick to respond, its mouse buttons are strategically placed and offer a satisfying tactile feedback, while Razer HyperSpeed provides dependable wireless connectivity with virtually no delay.

With Bluetooth capabilities that allow connection to as many as three devices simultaneously, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition also offers a wired option for versatile usage.

In simpler terms, Razer utilized the spacious case to incorporate a large rechargeable battery as well, claiming it could last up to 6 months on a single charge. However, my experience didn’t quite reach that length of battery life, but I do use the mouse with RGB lighting activated.

Experience the convenience by installing Razer Synapse on your device. This software grants you control over an array of features, such as boosting the polling rate to a swift 1,000Hz, personalizing the Chroma illumination, fine-tuning power settings, redefining functions for any of its six buttons (even adding dual action shortcuts), and designing custom profiles tailored to various applications. Notably, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition intelligently switches configurations as you navigate between different apps.

With Razer’s premium esports mice, you may not have all the features, but you will be granted access to the innovative AI Prompt Master feature. By pressing and holding the top button, you can open a specialized menu to request ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to condense text, write emails, generate images, and perform many other tasks.

To me, the additional feature on the Razer mouse doesn’t seem incredibly beneficial at present, but it’s an extra option they appear dedicated to refining and enhancing in the future.

Pro Click V2 Vertical: What I don’t like

While I recently complimented Razer for their impressive debut in creating a vertical mouse design, it’s important to note that there is still room for improvement.

To begin with, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition stands out as exceptionally vertical, surpassing even the most vertically-oriented mice from well-known brands such as Logitech. However, despite finding it comfortable to use, one might argue that Razer could’ve toned down the vertical aspect slightly.

It’s disappointing that this expansive mouse has just six programmable buttons given its size and the thumb rest’s suitable position for extra input options. Moreover, the USB Type-C port is recessed quite deeply, which means bulky charging cables won’t be able to fit properly.

Additionally, I find it rather bothersome that the two parts of the mouse aren’t joined smoothly, creating a visible and sharp crease at the base which disrupts its natural curve. However, this could simply be my personal preference.

In simpler terms, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition doesn’t include Razer’s HyperScroll wheel, which offers tilt functionality along with intelligent scrolling and a tactile feel. The standard Pro Click V2 model does have this feature, making the absence of it in the Vertical Edition all the more frustrating.

You want a vertical mouse that’s also designed for gaming.

Among the unexpected accessory launches of 2025, the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition stands out, and my first-hand experience confirmed this.

As a tech enthusiast, I’ve recently come across a mouse that’s unlike any other in the market. It might not offer the ultimate comfort of the trendiest vertical ergonomic mice or match the performance of the top-tier gaming mice, but it manages to strike an exceptional balance that sets it apart. In my opinion, this unique blend of features makes it a compelling choice for those seeking something different.

It’s clear to me that there are areas for improvement in the next model (version 3, as Razer typically does), but I must say this initial version is impressively well-done and appears to be quite affordably priced.

As a tech enthusiast, I’d put it this way: While a conventional gaming mouse might be the go-to for hardcore gamers, this product caters more to those who balance work and play equally. Razer’s extra software features certainly add value, although I’m not entirely convinced about the “AI Prompt Master” just yet.
