How to Use Repair Kits in Hytale (Or Salvage Items)

Hytale is a game where you explore, build, and survive in a colorful world filled with monsters, caves, and loot. But your tools and weapons will wear out – what do you do when your sword is almost broken, or your pickaxe finally breaks? That’s where repair kits and salvaging come in handy. After a lot of experimenting, I’ve figured out the simplest ways to keep your gear in good condition, or break it down for materials if it’s too damaged to fix.

Crafting Your First Repair Kit

Okay, so if something breaks, the first thing you need is a workbench. Then, you go to the tools section and grab the repair kit. To actually fix things, you’ll need to gather a few things: two pieces of linen, one iron ingot, and a piece of light leather. It’s pretty straightforward once you have those!

Light leather is actually quite easy to obtain. You can make it from the hides of common animals like sheep, rabbits, cows, and deer. After you get a hide, simply build a tanning rack at your workbench, place the hide on it, and you’ll have light leather ready to use for crafting.

You can get linen scraps by defeating certain creatures that appear at night, especially near torches, though they sometimes spawn during the day too. Iron is found underground in caves. Look for iron ore on the cave walls and ceilings, then smelt it in a furnace with fuel like wood to create iron ingots, which you’ll need for repairs.

How to Use Repair Kits

After you’ve collected everything you need, go back to your workbench and make the repair kit, then add it to your inventory. To use it, move the kit to your quick access bar and right-click. This will open the repair menu, showing you all your items and how damaged they are. Select an item to fully restore its condition. Keep in mind that each repair kit can only be used once.

Salvaging Old or Broken Items

If something is broken beyond fixing, or you simply don’t have a use for it anymore, the Salvager’s Workbench can help. To use it, you’ll first need to upgrade your workbench to Tier 2. This requires 30 copper ingots, 30 iron ingots, and 20 linen scraps.

After upgrading your workbench to level two, you can build the Salvager’s Workbench in the crafting menu. You’ll need six iron ingots, five pieces of wood from any tree, and five stones to craft it.

Okay, so the Salvager’s Workbench is a total game-changer! Basically, I can take any item – even totally broken ones – and break it down to get the materials back. Like, if my iron pickaxe is worn out, I can salvage it and get some iron and wood back. Sometimes I get stuff like sticks, rubble, or even plant fiber depending on the item. It’s awesome because I never have to worry about useless junk taking up space, and it gives me a steady supply of stuff to build new things with!

Having repair kits readily available in your hotbar is a huge time-saver. You can quickly scroll to them, right-click, and instantly fix damaged items. I remember bringing my iron sword back to full durability from 43% with just one click – it’s really satisfying!
