Oblivion Remastered Gets Worse the Longer You Play on PS5—Find Out Why!

According to tech experts from Digital Foundry, prolonging your single-player sessions in Oblivion Remastered may lead to a decline in the game’s performance as an RPG.

During tests run after the game’s release on all versions, such as regular PS5 and PS5 Pro, it was found that there might be a memory leak issue within the game causing a progressive drop in performance, particularly with regard to frame rate. Notably, even when starting fresh, Digital Foundry points out that the 60 frames-per-second target is often not maintained, and this becomes increasingly uncommon as your gaming session continues.

When Digital Foundry compared a newly started game session with one that had been left idle for 15 minutes, they observed a difference of up to 15 frames per second (fps). Specifically, the game running after being left idle, which they called a “charged playthrough”, operated at approximately 45fps. Conversely, the freshly booted game ran at about 59fps.

Leaving your gaming session for extended periods may cause the camera view while riding your character or horse to become unclear. To prevent this problem in the current version of the game, consider restarting it approximately every 15 minutes.

As a passionate gamer, I find myself longing for a well-crafted update to rectify the technical hiccups that are hindering my immersive journey through this remastered classic RPG. Digital Foundry’s review highlights the urgent need for a proper patch to alleviate these issues across all platforms, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience that truly does justice to the game’s potential greatness.
