A popular Xbox Series X game normally priced at $70 is currently available on Amazon for only $7. The sale has been going on for a few days, and Amazon has repeatedly restocked the game as it sells out. While it’s unclear how much stock remains, it’s likely limited and the deal may end soon.
The Xbox Series X game we’re talking about is The Calisto Protocol, a 2022 survival-horror title developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. Although it received a Metacritic score of 69 and didn’t fully satisfy everyone, it was a highly anticipated release, especially considering it was the first game from the development team. This anticipation stemmed from the fact that the team was founded and led by Glen Schofield, the creator of the popular Dead Space series, and The Calisto Protocol was designed to capture a similar feel.
Dead Space, But Not as Good
Ultimately, The Callisto Protocol doesn’t quite live up to Dead Space, but good sci-fi survival-horror games are rare, especially from major developers. It’s worth a look, particularly at its current price of $7. Players can expect around 10-12 hours of gameplay. While the full $70 price tag might be high for a flawed game of this length, $7 makes it a very affordable experience – less than a dollar per hour.
A Good Time to Buy
Although The Calisto Protocol has had discounts before, sales are rare, especially on Xbox Series X. This is the lowest digital price it’s ever been offered on the Microsoft Store, making it unlikely to get cheaper anytime soon. Since it’s not included with Xbox Game Pass, this is currently the most affordable way to play the game on Xbox.
