Winter 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic season for anime fans! Several popular series are returning with new seasons, and we’re also getting exciting new shows like Sentenced to Be a Hero. While many shows are generating buzz, Jujutsu Kaisen is leading the pack thanks to the huge success of its manga and previous anime seasons. Season 3 will cover the intense “Culling Game” arc, which will set the stage for the story’s finale. Although Jujutsu Kaisen initially dominated the conversation, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End quickly gained popularity after its release on January 16th, 2026 – just a week after Jujutsu Kaisen premiered.
The Winter 2026 anime season has a lot to offer, including returning favorites like Hell’s Paradise Season 2 and Fire Force Season 3 Part 2, as well as new seasons of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. However, Frieren has truly stood out, quickly becoming a hit and even topping the charts on MyAnimeList. Following its first season, Frieren surpassed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to become the highest-rated anime ever, achieving a score of 9.29. Now, Season 2 has taken the top spot with a debut rating of 9.34. As the story progresses, Frieren and her companions will continue their exciting journey towards Aureole.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Continues The Journey

Season two will have ten episodes and will cover the ‘Continued Northern Travels’ and ‘Divine Revolte’ storylines. After Fern earns his First Class Mage certification, Frieren and her companions resume their journey to Aureole. While the road ahead will be difficult, the group is prepared for whatever dangers they encounter. The season begins with the party facing a new problem: they’re running out of money.
While traveling, Stark unexpectedly walks in on the girls bathing, leaving him feeling deeply ashamed. Fern worries Stark will struggle with their relationship, but he’s actually more adaptable than expected. The group also runs into Wirbel and his companions, and Wirbel attempts to convince Stark to join them, but Stark declines.
You can now watch the second season of the anime on Crunchyroll, along with the first season. New episodes are released every Friday at 7:00 AM Pacific Time. While a release date for the English dub hasn’t been announced yet, we should hear more details this month. If you’d like to read the manga, all chapters are available for free on Viz Media’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End website, where you can also find links to buy the volumes. There are currently 14 volumes available in English, and the newest one should be added in a few months.
