Okay, so I’m putting together a guide to help you through Resident Evil Village. I’ll share all the tips and tricks I’ve learned to survive everything Lady Dimitrescu and her family throw at you. I’m also going to show you where to find everything – all the collectibles, including those weird Goats of Warding. Plus, I’ll list all the Padlock Combinations and exactly where to upgrade your guns. I’ll even cover all the hunting stuff – where to find Fish, Meat, and Poultry – and how to get Lei. Basically, I’m trying to make this the only guide you need!
Resident Evil Village Guide: All Collectibles
Resident Evil Village has 20 hidden collectibles to discover. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t track your progress during your first playthrough. You can see how many you’ve found in the Challenges menu, but it won’t tell you specifically which ones you’re missing. To guarantee you find everything in one go, you’ll need to use this guide.
- Goats of Warding are small, wooden figurines in the shape of goats that are hidden throughout the game. They are generally quite hard to find. Without the help found in this guide, you’re not likely to spot them. In order to register each one as found, you must shoot them with a gun. They make a faint sound as you draw near to them as their head rocks back and forth.
Resident Evil Village features several distinct areas, and each one has items to collect. This guide details all of the collectibles in the game, presented in the order you’ll find them as you play.

Resident Evil Village Guide: Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Okay, so Resident Evil Village feels a lot like Resident Evil 7, which is awesome if you already know Ethan Winters. But even if you’re a pro, I’ve got some handy tips and tricks that’ll help everyone out. Keep reading, and you’ll be totally ready for what this game throws at you!
Don’t Waste Your Ammo on Livestock
If you want to unlock lasting improvements at The Duke’s Kitchen, you’ll need to hunt animals for Fish, Meat, and Poultry. Ammo is limited, so it’s best to save your bullets! Instead, use your knife to hunt pigs, goats, and chickens. It might take a few swings to take them down, particularly the bigger ones, but you’ll conserve ammo and get the ingredients you need.
Shoot the Birdcages Hanging Above You
Okay, so I figured those birdcages hanging around were just scenery, but nope! Turns out, if you shoot them down, they drop items. I’m talking Lei to upgrade stuff, gunpowder for making bullets, and other helpful bits and pieces. You won’t find anything critical to the main story in them, but honestly, whatever you get is always worth the single bullet it costs to shoot the cage down. It’s a little boost that always helps!
Use the Map to Your Advantage
Pressing the Touch Pad button displays a map showing where you’ve been. Use this map to help you find everything! Red areas on the map mean there are still items hidden there, while blue areas indicate you’ve collected everything. This map focuses on useful items, not collectibles, so it’s a quick way to check if you’ve thoroughly explored each location.
Look Out for Yellow Tape
As I’ve been playing, I’ve noticed something really helpful: keep an eye out for anything yellow! Seriously, anything – yellow tape, yellow paint, you name it. If you see it, it usually means you can do something with it. Yellow tape marks boxes you can smash open for goodies, and yellow paint is always near objects you can combine with an item you’ve found. It’s especially important around the Well Wheel and the Crank – those are key to unlocking new areas and getting more stuff, so definitely look for the yellow clues near them!
Don’t Sell All Treasures Immediately
You can usually trade the Treasures you find with the Duke for Lei immediately. However, before you do, be sure to read the item’s description. While most will simply be labeled as “Valuable” or “Very Valuable”, some will indicate they are “Combinable”. This means there’s another Treasure hidden somewhere that, when combined with your current one, will significantly increase its value. These combinable Treasures are often easy to identify – look for labels like “Body” or “Shaft”, which suggest there’s a missing piece to find.
Check Out the Extra Content Shop After Beating the Game
Once you finish the game for the first time, you’ll unlock the Extra Content Shop in the Bonuses menu. This is where you can spend CP to unlock extras like The Mercenaries mode, new weapons, infinite ammo upgrades, concept art, and figurines. Each item costs a certain amount of CP, so you should have plenty saved up after your first playthrough. If you want to earn more CP and unlock even more content, check the Challenges section in the Bonuses menu.
