UK Tech Firm Bags $2.7M in Bitcoin—Are They Finally Seeing the Light? 🤔
Apparently, the Smarter Web Company has decided to dive headlong into the world of cryptocurrency—because why not, right? They’ve added 24.53 BTC to their treasury, all in the name of their noble-sounding “10 year plan.” Who knew long-term planning looked like buying a small island of digital gold? 🏝️
On May 29, this little-known UK-listed tech star dropped a hefty £2 million—roughly $2.7 million—into Bitcoin. With each Bitcoin roughly worth $109,828, they’ve now boosted their crypto stash to a grand total of 83.24 BTC, or about $8.8 million, giving ‘honey, I shrunk the portfolio’ a whole new meaning. 📉
If you’re wondering how they got here, well, it’s been a slow march. Started only in April, the company’s Bitcoin collection has skyrocketed by a whopping 30%. They’re bullish on Bitcoin, calling it ‘the long game,’ which sounds suspiciously like a fancy way of saying, ‘We’re in it for the potential chaos!’
This latest buy is all part of their grand ‘10 Year Plan,’ because nothing says stability like betting big on a digital asset that’s as predictable as British weather. They’ve even been accepting Bitcoin as payment since earlier this year—think of it as them saying, ‘Sure, cash is overrated—try paying with digital dreams!’
“In addition to organic growth, the Company will progress an acquisition strategy targeting other businesses with a view to growing its number of clients and/or recurring revenue,” they announced—like a techie version of ‘Let’s buy everything in sight, don’t judge us.’
Meanwhile, Bitcoin itself is doing its trademark rollercoaster. As we speak, it’s dipped by less than 1%, trading around $107,910. Just last week, it flirted with the elusive $110,000 mark—luring investors into a false sense of security before taking a nap at $111,814. Looks like crypto’s version of ‘steady as she goes,’ only with more drama and less sailing.
It’s not just the UK snatching up BTC—companies worldwide are jumping on the bandwagon. Last April, Abraxas Capital bought nearly 3,000 BTC worth a cool quarter of a billion dollars. Because who needs diversification when you can go all-in on what some call ‘digital gold’? 😎
